Now that's a hug and a half!!
Miser, you make more room !!!!
I have been reading about how to inset the eyes by pushing hard on them (or having someone do this for you) and then tying a knot. I have a few problems:
1. What do you do if you don't have any one who can push the eyes in, it is very difficult to do yourself so it stays indented and then trying to tie the knot.
2. When I push the eye in and then tie it off, it does not seem to hold tightly and comes forward a bit so it is not indented any more.
I have been doing the eyes like Monica Spicer recommends - which is with the loop and pulling it through that way which is great but that intends the eyes sort of sideways and not front on. I am not explaining myself very well.

What I am trying to achieve:
Any suggestions?

Megan Wallace from Tin Soldiers Studio has an online course I am currently doing. She emails a lesson a week.
love the name
the bear!
I love the colours
Very cute.
Very very nice
Great job
It's kinda cute, sort of like those "Fur Real Friends" they have - like the walking dog and pony but far more sophisticated.
I especially do not like the teddy bear with the handgun to his head. I have nothing against guns but to send a message about suicide and using a gun in this manner is a whole different matter.:(
I just had a look at the website and saw the "suicide bear". Suicide is never amusing or funny and I can't believe someone would trivialise it this way. I am not being precious or judgemental but this is beyond a joke.
Love the colour of the fur, she looks very sweet.
Wow he's really great, love his face.
He's very sweet
I want one
Eww gross. Poor little thing, the one eye he does have looks so sad :(
Jenbee, that is worth a try, thanks.
I use a cotter pin turner - maybe that's why I can't get it tight. I might try to use long nose pliers as described by Joanne above and see how I go. Thanks.
I have tried cotter pins but I just can't get the joint as tight as I can with a screw, that's why I use them. I might order some grub screws online and give them a go. I have just got another pattern which leaves an opening at the back of the head.
Thanks ladies, it kinda makes sense. Maybe has something to do with the chin seam. I'll just have to be more careful when sewing and stuffing and see what happens next time.
Hi Erin, First I pin, then I baste and then I machine sew and finally hand sew the last part from eye to eye. I usually put a pin in the tip of the nose and then pin from the neck back up to the nose pin. I think it must be curving for some reason as I am really careful trying to get it exactly dead centre.
I have so many problems with heads (including my own at times). When I sew a head, I go chin to neck - insert head gusset - oversew all. Machine sew up to about 90% of the way and handsew the last part of the nose to ensure it is straight with no buckling. BUT everytime the septum seam is skewed - off centre slightly. I made sure that the marks on the pattern were perfectly aligned when I sewed and I was super careful with stuffing. This time I used pure merino wool just for the nose. It keeps happening to me :(
What can I do??
*squeal with delight* So soulful, so cute so beautiful. Can you tell I'm in love???
To me it looks somewhat Tiggerish - perhaps with the stripes faded - Did Chad Valley make a Tigger??

I have read this and understand but I am having a slightly differnt problem of late. I am supergluing the bolt to the disc but when I go through the body to tighten the loc nut, the entire superglued disc turns, which means I cannot tighten the loc nut. What am I doing wrong it is so frustrating. I thought I could use a regular nut and super glue that when I've finished but surely there is something I am not doing right.
