For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store
It's a brilliant idea (thanks Paula!!) but I can see what your're saying.......
Would it be easier to limit it to bear supplies type stuff and leave actual 'bear' swaps between individuals??? This seems to be the complicating factor from what I'm reading?? I may be wrong......
Well done Judi, but I've got to ask, how long does it take you to make something like that??
You must be over the moon!!
You know you learn something new every day.......and I didn't know this, so Happy Christmas Julia!!!!!
Ooops, sorry Shelli  I thought I was going mad for a moment, just had to ask!!
Since I've been online/offline this afternoon, TT has a different logo and is blue when I'm logged in and yellowy when I'm logged off - is there something in my chocolate???

Hi Tami and welcome to TT!!
Have a look at the above links, they should cover everything you need!!
Have fun!!
I like the first.....and the second.......
Awww Jenn, I'm so sorry you've had to experience that, in fact I'm in shock, how can people be like that....?
  For you xxx
And Kim, that's brilliant - in fact it's hard to believe, I feel like I've 'known' you for years
Oooh Diane I would love to be able to do this full time like you <dream>
Unfortunately it's not to be..... I'm back to work tomorrow.....
I do envy you
I am constantly amazed by new artists joining the forum who have only made their wonderful bears for such a short time, how long have you all been making bears??
Me?? Since Feb 2003.
My feelings exactly Penny!!!
And Jenny, I'd sulk too!!!
I guess I just wouldn't be good faced with criticism
(VERY sensitive person!), but I do understand where you're all coming from!! Really I do!!
Oh Penny I will, I'm back to work in the morning, so I'll pop to the wholesalers and see what they've got - brill, thanks!! I like my daylight lamp, but it's sooo dark here it's just not enough, and when I put the big light on, which is a great big black chandalier type thingy, it's like I'm sat in the middle of Blackpool illuminations - and everything looks a different colour than it really is!!!
Good luck with the New Years Resolution!!! I should too really, but hey, I am what I am.......
With the days and nights so dark and dreary at the moment here in the UK, I'm finding my daylight desk lamp not quite enough for my eyes to see what I'm doing!! I'm interested to find out what you all find effective - oh by the way I only work in my dining area so space is limited, well practically non existent actually, especially as I'm so messy!!!
When making your paw pads, what do you tend to use, and why?? My favourite is ultrasuede, I also have just got some lovely very thin leather which I'm itching to try. I like the way I can age these materials, which I probably wouldn't be able to get the effect I wanted with felt.
I'm also going to try different fabrics in the future - I feel like a change - has anyone got any good results from something unusual??
Just being nosey, as usual!!
Ahh Brilliant, you know you could have the start of an anime bear there - an anime artist over here (Bry) said to get a child to draw a bear, and you can create the anime bear from the drawing - look at your daughter's picture, can you see?? I can!!
She is definitely going to follow in mummy's footsteps!!
Oh Dilu, lovely lovely!!! I've not long started using the fabric too - well done you!!
Haven't heard from Stephanie for a while, or have I missed her??
I'm thinking to perhaps list more on ebay.com rather than UK ebay, as I seem to get more interest from non UK collectors and I'm sure they get a far bigger audience than we do.
I notice some UK artists do 'exclusives' on ebay.com, and, I think, list on both UK and US for their others. I did sell a bear on ebay.com in November and it was nice that I started it at a higher price and it reached it!!
I would appreciate any advice!!
Irene thank you!! I always create my head and face before I do anything else, I always think of those little eyes crying out for a body!!
All the best for your future grandchild!!
I have to agree with Laura, it's all in the face for me too. I like bears which have the traditional look best, as I love all things vintage and antique, in fact I'm sure I was born in the wrong era!! That's not to say I don't like contemporary though because I do, and I enjoy creating contemporary too, but I just love the whole 'Olde Worlde Ambience'. If I was to chose it would be traditional, I connect to that more.
I sometimes find it hard when the bears I love don't sell or fetch much, and the bears which aren't my particular taste go really well.....strange, but if we all liked the same thing life would be so boring!!
A new bear to me makes me feel good and happy and warm inside
Hi Kerynn
I think your bear is lovely!!! I'm sure your nan will be over the moon!! I have a real fur coat which I bought for bear making, it's beautiful, but I'm not brave enough to take the project on - yet - one day!!!
Do you think you'll make any more in real fur??
Irene, they're both adorable!! You must be very proud!! Do you do your bear faces last?? Does everyone?? Am I 'different' ?? Just wondered?!!
Wishing you every success with this Danni, it looks wonderful!!!
Yay Jenn, have a great day and a great year!!! :cake:
