Gordie-hockey_003-Small.JPGGordie-hockey_001-Small.JPGMy nephew wanted his own hockey bear after he heard my brother got one and is also a big Habs fan. He's now living in Huston, Texas but still makes almost all of their games - his frequent flyer points must be astounding!

I recently ordered some items from Joggles and when I unpacked them I couldn't find the mongolian lamb I had ordered. I checked the packing slip and it was listed - just not in the box. I emailed them, politely fortunately, to say thanks for the speedy delivery - no lamb. I then went back to my chair and on the floor beside my chair .... the lamb  It had fallen out of the box and I didn't notice it. I had to immediately go back to the computer and send another email apologizing    Thankfully I hadn't been rude (although I rarely am in any case).

fingers and toes crossed here. I'd cross my eyes too but that makes sewing difficult

I use this product from Lee Valley for armatures. It's a flexible wire surrounded by a spongy, removable coating. Not expensive and it works great - I have no problems getting stuffing around it as well.

so glad he survived to hop again - and it sounds like he hopped into clover!

I used to bred my Siamese queen many years ago and loved to see the new white kittens. So amazing to see them born white and then gradually change. Have fun!

I understand fully what you're going through. My first granddaughter was born last year and I was already 60!!!! That was so unfair - didn't they understand that my biological clock was ticking away - I was waiting for that child since my daughters were in their early 20's and finally my son came through.

george--pig.jpggeorge--pigs.jpgWe just got our piglets on Sunday and one of our Bostons, George, just couldn't wait to make their acquaintance!

Thanks for those lovely pics. Monkey World on tv is one of my favourite shows!

Donna .... I guess I didn't realize you were you!
I bought the ultimate stuffing tool a couple of years ago and just can't do without it. I don't make too many small bears any more, mainly 12" - 15".  this tool is certainly one though that I'd want to have on that desert island if I got stranded!

I use ultimate stuffing tool as well and absolutely love it.  I did a search here for you and this may help:

otherwise try searching Donna Mettling and ultimate stuffing tool on goggle

Seriously.. when  I'm designing something new I start with the head as well.
I like to draw the side first and then experiment with the gusset til I get the look, hopefully, that I'm trying for. I don't do much about the body and limbs until the head is sewn up cause if I don't like the head I don't need the rest.

Karen - you've just given away your cat-making secrets. I'm sure by that pic I'll be able to figure it out!

actually, I think I know which pieces are for the tail and maybe the body, hmmmmm bear_whistle

wedding-bears.JPGI guess the last minis I made were for my son's wedding party - 2 years ago!
I used Sassy long-pile, in white of course. These were all about 3-1/2 to 4".  My sister is getting married next month so I guess I'll have to pull it out and see if I can give it a go again!

MerBear

I absolutely love Sassy fabrics and have for several years. I don't make too many minis now (eyesight) but I like to use the Sassy frosted for paw pads etc. It comes in such lovely colours! bear_wub and of course I can't do without the thread bobbins - absolutely the strongest thread for hand-sewing but so extremely fine!

I don't know if any other Canadian's have run into this but some American eBay's are no longer accepting Paypal payments from Canadian...something about the fees being too high. I've had this happen on eBay and also on a web site that accepted Paypal, just not Canadian Paypal. Very annoying.

I just used one of my artist patterns to make a bear out of chenille. I sinew jointed it though cause I wanted it to be baby-safe. The limbs still have limited movements, just no actual joint.

THE MIRACLE OF TOILET PAPER
      >
      > Fresh from my shower, I stand in front of the mirror complaining
to my
      > Husband that my breasts are too small. Instead of characteristically
      > Telling me it's not so, he uncharacteristically comes up with a
      > suggestion.
      >
      > 'If you want your breasts to grow, then every day take a piece of
      > Toilet paper and rub it between them for a few seconds.'
      >
      > Willing to try anything, I fetch a piece of toilet paper and stand in
      > Front of the mirror, rubbing it between my breasts. 'How long will
this
      > Take?' I asked.
      >
      > 'They will grow larger over a period of years,' my husband replies.
      >
      > I stopped. 'Do you really think rubbing a piece of toilet paper
between
      > My breasts every day will make my breasts larger over the years?'
      > Without missing a beat he says 'Worked for your butt, didn't it?'
      >
      > He's still alive, and with a great deal of therapy, he may even walk
      > Again, although he will probably continue to take his meals through a
      > straw.
      >
      > Stupid, stupid man.

I use the Copic pens for shading on needlefelting - just make sure you have the blender pen on hand.

I'm afraid dollmaking is going to prove addictive...somewhat like bears!

great news...
don't know about there but in our area if a house sells quickly and for cash they most likely are going to turn it into a grow op!
several years ago my sister was selling and she got an offer where they even wanted her to leave all her furniture behind! They didn't want people to realize there were new owners - she didn't sell to them.

first-doll-2-Small.JPGfirst-doll-Small.JPGThis is my first doll, made from a free pattern from Judi Ward, with some artistic alterations of course. I made it on the weekend for my granddaughter, who turns one today. I wanted a doll that was completely baby-proof and machine washable of course and this should fit the bill.
