Really must be turtle season all over. On the way to work this morning I saw two turtles laying eggs on the side of the road - not 6" from the pavement. Those eggs are certainly doomed and unfortunately the turtles quite often don't make it back to safety
We have a lot of snapping turtles in our area as well and occasionally we find really big ones in the flower beds. We live on a farm so there is lots of place for them still.
Last Saturday we had a family party and some of the kids went down by the creek to explore. They came back with several turtle eggs - they wanted to take them home to hatch!

Not much help to offer but do thank you for the terrific link. I'm getting more and more interested in cloth dolls!

how awful....I hope your insurance covers this?
I remember years ago when a fire threatened our house. I grabbed the dogs (and puppies), cats, and family pictures and tax information and of course, the kids. I totally forgot my purse and had a heck of a time replicating id's. A neighbour did remind me about the car or I would have left that too! There are a few more things I should have taken out that I miss but overall, saving the pictures (and the kids) was more important. Take care!

I purchased a subscription last Nov I think it was. Unfortunately I was never able to log into the magazine and emailed them several times about it - without any response. Since it wasn't that expensive I just gave up.

The best way to learn would be to take the on-line course offered at eBearz University at North Country Teddy Bears. Many of us here have taken this course or others over the years and they are most helpful.

Bid4Bears is quiet just now because there was a big push for March, April and mid-May. Now we're all gearing up for the Spring Fling Show thru B4B in mid-June. Nancy generally has special attractions on B4B that offer free listings etc for specific periods. So stay tuned and give it a try.

I always copy my patterns to bristol board or plastic for use as a template and then use that to draw on the back of the mohair. No pinning involved.

There are several bearmakers on the Board from Ontario, including me....where bouts are you?
I'm in the Brockville area (near Kingston)

She is really sweet - is she going in your Etsy Shop?
For some reason I did the same last week - made an elf from Jennifer Laing's book. He is now my sister's Good Housekeeping Fairy.

I've been using both ultrasuede and wool felt but do prefer the wool felt. Here is another place to order it: www.vintagevogue.com. They seem to have a great deal more colors and I got a yard of the 100% virgin untreated wool felt and it is wonderful...very thick. Apparently because it is untreated it will dye more easily and it can be felted.

you did a great job! Maybe cat type eyes with the slits instead of pupils?
I enjoyed the Spiderwick movie.

On another note - if you do come to a show please let us know which one!

My family nickname has always been "Mer" from a cousin who couldn't pronouce Marion - (not one of my smarter cousins). When I started making bears and felt I needed a name - MerBear made more sense than Marion's Bears.

Bobbie, I had to laugh at:"How long do you stay in the kitchen?" and of course w/3 kids I said "Hours every day."
I had my first dishwasher the next week...."
Many years ago, after 4 kids and a large garden, I started campaigning for a dishwasher. I was doing a lot of canning and also wanted it to wash the jars. My husband said: "Why do I need a dishwasher, I married one". I just laughed and the next day, called the store and ordered one delivered. It was there when he got home from work and I've had one ever since! That taught him to think before talking.

A night alone......the remote control all to myself!!! I like to watch tv while I hand-sew and my husband drives me crazy switching back and forth all evening. The few nights he's away - I schedule my shows for the evening and leave the darn thing alone. I swear he figures they change the schedule each commercial cause he goes through the whole process each time.
Not having to cook a meal is also nice - I'm quite happy with a grilled cheese sandwich for supper. A couple of years ago he went away for a month - I swear I lost 10 lbs!

I wouldn't be too quick to make insinuations about Karen's cats being too real Mr. Dean. I'd still like to know just where you got that ostrich!

still laughing here....my husband retired almost 10 years ago and he's come very close at times....

I'm presently taking the photography course at eBearz (Kranbearys) and find it very informative. I took the needlefelting course a couple of years ago and also really enjoyed it!
Go take a peek - you'll be surprised at all the courses offered.

I have seen this before. I would think a lot of those men are suddenly suffering from urinary problems!
