Dear all teddy bear friends
I hope you had a sweet and happy Christmas.
Here is a pic of my latest addition to the collection, Simeon by Kim Endlich, which is my Christmas present! He is a traditional style bear, almost 50 cm tall.
He is very sweet and has a great personality. I hope you like him as much as I do.
I wish you all the best for the 2011 beginning. :bday:

Hi Thomas! Thanks for sharing! This was really cute. I had never heard about Paddington videos on youtube. I watched several. In addition this is a very good exercise to pratice my english. The speaker has a lovely english accent.
Mia I love your pictures around China!!! I've been to Japan, but I'd love to come to China too!
I love those happy faces! I'll be there in front of my pc at 3pm (local time!!)
It's always nice when a pumpkin comes to visit... :)

I'm really happy your Cooper is getting better. He is supercute with that t-shirt too. When my cat had a surgeon and had stiches on her tummy I had to put a newborn onesie on her. And I had to make a hole for the tail too. Of course I bought a pink one!
Hi Thomas, thanks for your info!
I'll go to Covent Garden for sure, as I'll stay in Piccadilly.
I know I can't miss to go to Witney's! I saw some pics and it's so cool! I'm trying to have a tight schedule for those days, so maybe I could have some time to go out of London.
I travel a lot, so maybe it'll be for the next time.
Hi! I've found out that Steiff did some bears with "sash". For example there is one made for "the fall of the wall" memorial. But of course they have Steiff buttons in ears.
As you can see from the link, souvenir bears from Berlin have often the sash with "Berlin" written on it:

So, I think that the best hypothesis is that he is sounvenir bear or a memorial bear from Berlin. Additionally, the teddy bear is the symbol of the city of Berlin.
That looks like a Teddy Bear Dog! :D
You'r right! At the very first sight I thougt it was a plush!
Oh my, I love those ears.... I can hardly see them My cat is starting getting jealous
Dear Peter they are wonderful! Nutmeg has a very cute nose and I love Amos's fur. He looks like a very hugable bear
lucky bears dad!
Hi Becky, hall
This topic looks very interesting.
I think that the mainly difference is that taxidermy is done by scientists, biologists... taxidermy's aim is to describe nature in the most realistic way by stuffing dead animals. This is a shame I can't understand it; it has always been in the human being the willingness to show its supremacy on nature, taxidermy is an example. I hope none will ever stuff one of us with straws to show how we looked like
On the other hand, when we speak about an art work, we usually speak about a personal interpretation of something; it could be a sensation, a issue, an animal...
If we speak about teddy bear artists, perhaps we have to define different categories: traditional classic teddy bears, vintage bears, anime bears, and realistic bears or other animals.
I think that realistic teddy bear have nothing to do with taxidermy, because first the process of creation is different and they are created for two completely different aims. One process is scientific (= "barbaric") the other one is artistic.
Then from a collector point of view, the rest is a matter of taste.
I prefer traditional teddy bears (in mohair or viscose, no fur) because I have to take them to bed every night
I apology if I hurt someone, this is just my personal opinion.

Hi Claudia
I'm the foreign replier here. I'm Italian and I do not speak German; English is my second language. After this introduction I have to say that your web site is easly navigable and I could understand everything. It would be nice to read also something in "about me" page :)
I hope it helps
Dear Sue
Thanks. I know Witney shop, I'm in contact with them. Unfortunately they are about 1 hour and 15 min far away from London. I'll be in the city just for a couple of days, for work and I don't think I'll have much time going around...
Anyway I have to visit Witney ones, it looks like the collectors dream shop

Dear all
thanks for yor warm welcome! I'll post in New Member section too.
Gemma, thanks for the advice. I know prices would be higher. That's way I've never bought a bear from a shop, always from artists.
Hello everybody!
I'm new here. I'm happy to have found this place where to share my love for teddies.
I'm a teddy bear collector.
I hope this is the right category where to post this.
I'll be in London at the end of the month, will you suggest me some bear shops? I collect artists bears, LE and ooak.
Thanks so much!
