Hello! If its any help I've been gone for a year too and am starting tomorrow. I bet it feels weird and like you've never been away, all at the same time. Good luck!

Amanda

Great question. I only did big bears at shows so have not got much of a clue.

Amanda

I've done it easy peasy.  You are my first link and wow what a good one. I hope you don't mind I started a post where if you don't mind being on ANY Teddy talkers blog, you just post there. Now I'm off to actually read your blog, what a delight.

Amanda

Hi all. Dorothy got me thinking. If you want to be included in ANY TTers blogs you could just post the link here. I would'nt just presume to include anyones but would be happy to do so if they post their link here, as I am sure others would. So if you don't mind being on any TTers blog, post that link!

Here is mine!
http://pandypotter.blogspot.com/

Now off to find out how I include other links on mine. bear_thumb

Amanda

Hi Dorothy. Great idea. I've just started one too, although I'll have to find out how to add links.  bear_whistle

Amanda

I've not made a bear for over a year so will be sort of starting from scratch. I've already had two enquiries because they saw me on here. I just neeed to start making first!  bear_grin I've started a blog because that seems good and I'm too lazy to do and keep up a proper website. Other than that I need to just get started then go from there.

Amanda

I watched this as well. As usual the makers of the film did'nt really choose 'collectors' of dolls as we think of them. They chose people who would make good TV, and they did! The lady who lost her grandson made me think he was dead at first, he had we found out, emigrated. She used words like he was taken away. Lots of emotions there. Then the other lady.....hmmm. Again they were no more collectors of dolls, than I am. The reborns were filling a gap of some sort. It would be interesting to see what a doll or reborn collector thinks of the programme. Sometimes you can download TV that has been on in the last week, just Google my fake baby.

Amanda

A Happy New Year to you all! I hope 2008 is a little bit better for you and you loved ones Jane. Thanks for all the birthday reminders.

Amanda

Not many party animals so far! Add another night in girl. We went out last night, into town, and it was so boring and quiet we caught the bus home and did the usual, drink, curry and DVD. I must be getting old. So no parties for us tonight. Same again, wine and DVD as theres not much on TV. They must think we all go out.

Amanda

Happy New Year to you all, although its still 2007 here I'm sure some of you have already partied and hit 2008! bear_wacko

Amanda

Good luck Laurie. I love the Sassy fabric and its lovely to work with. A good miniature size to start off with is about 3 1/2" to 4", as you can turn and do other things easier. As you get used to the small scale you can go down in size. I've not made for over a year but will be starting soon. Good thread is a must to make the job easier, and thin needles. I ordered the super lon thread, I think its a beading thread. Just shout if you need to know anything.

Amanda

Jenny Scamp is wonderful. Its really a credit to you and soooo one of your bears. A whole new bear world for you. It will be nice to have something fresh to work towards. Love the scissor sculpting. The first of many!

Amanda

Interesting topic Jenny. I would love to do old style bears in miniature, maybe next year. I have'nt made a mini for over a year and it will be the new year when I start again. I'm sure I will be all fingers and thumbs and it will be getting used to 'small'. I started in big bears then did a few minis years ago. Good fabric, thin needles and the right thread makes such a difference. I've learnt a lot in the miniature posts off other people on here. It could be a good New Year challenge, to do an 'opposite' look to what you usually do, in size or style.

Amanda

Hiya! Never mind all the excuses  bear_tongue

WE WANT TO SEE IT!!!!!

Sounds brill.

Amanda

Lovely news Clare. I too like the name Zack. Good choice!

IMG_2352.JPGIMG_2350.JPGIMG_2354.JPGHi all. Just finishing bits of painting today, then thats it. We bought this house nearly a year ago, its kept us busy renovating it. I've got three trees, as I want this to be a nice first christmas here. Next year when the gardens sorted I'd like one outside.

Amanda

Well done Kay. What good news! Just shows how things roll. Speak to you soon and we want to see pictures!

Amanda

Hi Gemma. Its a long time ago, but just try logging in with your ebay.co.uk username and password. I'm sure you don't have to have a seperate account. Could be wrong though as I have been 'out of it' for awhile.

Amanda

Hiya. I think someone posted a similar question ages ago, but with lots of new members, a great post.

My name, Pandy Potter is what my dad called me when I was little. Pandy rhymes with Mandy and the Potter bit? Well we do live in the Potteries (Stoke) and I suppose it rhymes as well. I also had a panda for my first Christmas so there is a panda connection. Years ago I used to be Bramble Bears but someone else had the name after and so when I came to start mini making changed it.

I lost 70lbs doing something called Slimming World in the UK. I run their classes now. That aside it will be 8 years this thursday since I lost my weight. Now just those few pounds to lose can be hard work. My tip is to eat more....

Really thats how the eating plan works. You fill up on food that fills you but is lower in calories. Maybe loads of chicken and veg one day, pasta and salad the next. All said and done you must find something that works in with your lifestyle and then adapt it to how you are. Theres no point doing something that you can stick to for a while, then you can't follow. Its got to be slow, long term. Something you can keep going with.

The reason I liked the diet was I stuffed my face, I was never hungry. Which ever diet you follow make sure its one that you can do long term and after a while stops feeling like diet, and more like routine.

I still have my hard times but its all in the balance, if I overindulge (like today bear_tongue  ) I need to up the veg, etc the next few days. I need to be eating more, not less, but more of the right things that fill me up. Hunger isn't what will help me lose weight.

I hope you find some inspiration, have a look at the Slimming World site and the other ones, it could give you some ideas. Good luck!

Amanda

Oh Steph what lovely little critters. Love the fabric for Marachino and I need some inspiration, which fabric is this?

Amanda

Hi everyone, just popped in and will try to more often! I've got one, ABOUT ME and I'm not sure how I did it! I'll go off and see what I can find out and report back.

Right I went to the Help section and put in 'about me page'. This then had a link to in my case editing it or in yours making one. I can also edit it in 'personal information' section on my ebay page.

I used html as I had an auction template that I used to make my page. If you click on ebay under my avatar you can pandypotter which is my id then just click on ME to see the page.

Hope you all get on well.

IMG_1721.JPGIts a brill ending. I cried,  bear_rolleyes but then it was so well written. Have you seen Torchwood yet? Not bad, although not quite Dr Who, I enjoyed it. The Christmas special was good too. My friends son is a Dr Who fan and had a full size Tardis made. Amy is a fan too and has loads of Dr Who stuff.

The new assistant will have a lot to live up to. Rose was idolised by Amy.

Forgot to say the new show starts April time and Captain Jack is in it for an episode or two. Torchwood ended with a tie in to Dr Who.

Amanda

Just popped in, missing you all. This caught my eye as I used to make loads of these bears (sorry no photos). I did 9" to 14" ones. I used to use plastic beads to stuff the limbs, tum and loose stuff the head with fibre as the fabric has some stretch, which actually works well for flopsy type bears. I had gold, fawn and dark brown fabric. Real vintage 1970's curtains! Yuk to the curtains, but brill for bears.

Watch the fibre when cutting as it goes all over the place. I dressed some. They were quite quick to make when I got going and  I sold them for less than the mohair so they were popular with younger collectors.
