Thank you very much for organizing this, Gail.
My poor brain will be working overtime, trying to come up with some original ideas for these cards.
Wouldn't it be a good idea if we could post (on TT) some of the cards we received ?
Hugs,

Hi Becky,
So glad you enjoyed the -succesful- trip.
Brazil seems to be quite an amazing country : one of my colleagues who retired from work, married a Brazilian woman and went to live there. We hardly ever see him anymore  .
Though I doubt there is much teddy-bear action in Brazil ??

Hope that the other 3 magazines go on. Susan
Susan, Maria,
I definitely hope that the other German teddy bear magazines can go on, because I just took out a subscription on "Teddybaer uns seinde Freunde" .

Anyway, I showed it to my husband and to my friends at work, simply bubbling with excitement, and they just looked at me like "well it's just a bear". I felt so let down!!
Hi Leanne,
As a teddy bear lover and not an artist, I fully appreciate how much effort and skill and creativity go into making a teddy bear.
I really hate it when people say: "Well, I could do that easily" (when looking at a painting for instance) or in your case :"well it's just at bear (what's so special about that)". I have only one reply to these philistines : "if it's so easy, why don't you make one yourself".
Well of course, they can't . Because they haven't got your talent, your love for making bears, your creativity and your skills.
And deep down inside, they are probably envious of your talents.
So do not let these people discourage you; show your creations to people who know how to appreciate them and who can give you constructive advice on how to further improve your skills.
And by the way, I think your bear is adorable

I saw the picture in our online newspaper as well: it was so sad
.
Apparently nobody knows why they lost their hair (a genetic default ?); I do hope they find a remedy for these two unfortunate animals  .

Thank you so much for posting this link, Dawn !
The video was just wonderful; I have watched it at least three times; such lovely memories of a very special day.
I had no idea someone was filming there; but then again : my head was in the clouds  .

Thanks for reminding us, Alison, I just ordered my copy as well.
Though I am a bit confused : From what Paula wrote at the beginning of this post, I was under the impression that a normal issue of TBS would be published in November, but apparently it's the Teddy Bear Annual 2010 :
Never mind; I hope it's a huge success, so maybe TBS will be published on a regular basis again.

Hi Paula,
I'm so glad that the show is a big success  , even though Starlight is still waiting for a new family .
My favourite was definitely CASPIAN, such a gorgeous hunk of a teddy; no wonder he was the first to go and the one to win the best of show .
When is the next show ???
Better take a little rest now and make sure all the teddies get to their proper destinations.
Hugs,

Peter, I'm not selling my bears yet. But thank you so much for asking!
I hope to soon, though. I feel I'm not quite ready. I want to improve a bit more on workmanship. I believe in quality.
Laura,
Please keep us posted when you feel you are ready; I will be waiting in line ...

Have a great Halloween and give my love to your lovely daughters Sarah & Eve  .

Paula,
I'm looking forward to your show; I'm sure there will be lots of gorgeous bears (hope it's not too spooky though ).

Hi Laura,
Master Marty is one gorgeous teddy bear !
What beautiful fur : it looks so inviting to give him a big cuddle  .
Forgive me if this is a silly question, but do you make the bears solely for your own pleasure or do they sometimes get adopted into other families ?
Hugs,

He is really adorable, Terrie, I love the combination of the colours .
He may be small, but seems to have a lot of character .

Hi Maria, Your dancing bear looks great; I'm sure he will get lots of votes .
You mentioned that we only have one vote. After you have voted you have to fill in your name and e-mail address.
Now here is my question : "I have several e-mail addresses; would it be morally totally wrong to vote several times with different mail addresses???
Good luck ! Are you going to the show in Taiwan ??
Hugs,

Hi Marilyn,
I had no idea it was "National Teddy Bear" in the US, but what a great idea.
I can just imagine everyone taking a teddy to work : no more agro, no more complaining and whining, just a lot of happy smiles .
Why can't we make this an international holiday ?? Is there a national teddy bear day in the UK ? Certainly not here.
Although I must admit that in my house, everyday is teddy bear day  .
Anyway to all you teddy bears in the US and their wonderful mums and dads :
:cake: !

Hi Barbara,
Not bad for a third bear; in fact : very good I love his luscious fur : is it faux fur ?
He/She has an adorable expression; he/she seems to be saying : please pick me up and give me a great big hug .
But a bear with no name ??? Surely you must give him a name .
Hugs,

Melanie is such a sweet tiny bear, Olga, and what beautiful accessories !
Really lovely.

Aaahh just what I need more fuel for my addictions! Not only do I love bears but I also love reading. Peter, I have a book that may interest you (actually I have 2 of them so may be able to do a deal) - it is called Teddy's World and it is by Mirja De Vries.
Thank you Clare for the tip; however ... I have this beautiful book myself. Mirja De Vries is a wonderful photographer who has been making beautiful teddy bear photographs for as long as I can remember. Every book with her photo's is a real treasure. She has a beautiful 2010 diary and calendar as well. I take the diary with me to work and get some funny looks when I open it during one of the bank's boring meetings  .

Yes Peter, it's your Morris on front cover ... what a little star!
Paula, do you remember that Morris was the last to get adopted from your "Gathering Bears in May" webshow? We called him Cinderfella, because he was waiting for his prince (me ) to adopt him before midnight. Morris is so proud to have his picture on the front cover, he asked me to order several dozens of copies of the book to give to his friends.

Hi Vicky,
It was so sad to read about your lovely dog Ben. I hope and pray that the vets will be able to make him well again.
We are all thinking of you and, of course, keeping our fingers and paws crossed for his recovery.

Hi guys and gals,
Not only do I love teddy bears, but I also love ... books (not very cuddly, I know, but sometimes you will catch me hugging a book  ).
So I am always on the lookout for books about teddy bears. I love browsing sites like Amazon and I came across two new books that I wanted to share with you.
John J. Lamb will be a familiar name to many of you. He has written several "Bear Collector's Mysteries" such as "The Mournful Teddy", "The clockwork Teddy", "The Crafty Teddy" and "The False-hearted Teddy". Now there is a new book in the series called "The Treacherous Teddy".
I love reading these little teddy-bear related detective stories before going to bed. The plot centers around Brad Lyon, a retired police officer, and his wife Ashleigh, a teddy bear artist. Although retired, Brad always gets involved in solving a crime that somehow relates to a teddy bear. I haven't read this one yet, but I certainly will.
The second book I found is called "Teddy Bear Annual 2010" by Kathy Martin, who will be familiar to most of you as well. "Everything you need to know about your favourite teddy bears and more". The book is due to appear on November 19th and I am definitely getting my copy of this one as soon as it comes out. However I don't recall there being a 2009 Teddy Bear Annual, so I think this is a new initiative by Kathy, which can only be applauded. The lovely bear on the front cover is one of Paula Carter's and I think he's called "Morris" (correct me if I'm wrong Paula), so I'm hoping I will find lots of TT'ers mentioned in this annual.
If any of you know of good teddy bear books, I am always interested to hear more. Next time I will write some more about the new Winnie-the-Pooh book.
Hugs,

Wow, he is gorgeous, Paula !
I love the colour of the tipped fur and the lighter ring around his muzzle which brings out the deep blue eyes.
Caspian is an astonishing hunk of a bear !
