Teddy Talk: Creating, Collecting, Connecting

I made this additional hat cos' when shopping at the supermarket I lost one I made : someone found it and kept it... So that one is a replacement one ; not the same, but I do not mind.

Hi dear friends!

Here we are, in 2011 and I entered this year full of hope for luck.

Here is a handmade little card for you all (with Photoshop):

2010 has been the worse year in my life. I lost precious ones, some other had very serious health matters and I still have no decent job. Well, right, I have this little job for the local newspaper (strarted in october 2010), but it really does bring ridiculous amount of money (around 150 euros per month). It is more for the fun of it and the pleasure of meeeting lots of people.

Now some positive notes for 2011.
I eventually found a new job to train for, so hopefully I will manage to do something of my professional life once trained. I am studying desktop publishing, which I enjoy a lot. Well, just started studying, to be honnest.
In the end of 2010, I went into a loom knitting frenzy and knitted warm scarves, hats and neck warmers for all my in-laws! I am addicted to loom-knitting.
We adopted a new cat, but I posted about it already. So not all bad in 2010. Also we had Wendy Ching visiting us in Spring, which was a wonderful holiday. A good way to change temporarilly my mind after I lost my poor brother.

Concerning teddy bears, they will not be my main focus of the year. But, I do have a queue of five custom bears on the waiting list. No teddy bear show this year. No teddy bear challenge in mind so far. i must focus on my studies. That is the only way to get to find a job faster and eventually earn some money!

A couple of days ago, Carolyn Green (Draffin Bears) emailed me saying she and her hubby would go to France (as part as the gift from her habby for their 25th wedding anniversary) and would have the opportunity to meet us for the second time. This should be in about ten days. So I am looking forward to meet them again.

My new status of student brought me the opportunity to buy the new Adobe Creative Design suite for a great bargain price (education price) and I strated discovering Photoshop. I love it a lot!
Desktop publishing requires to have a correct screen or double screen. As I only had a small 12 inches laptop, I treated myself with a new iMac, with a 21.5" screen. Well, my parents decided to pay everything related to my new studies, so they paid back the computer, which I think is extremely kind of them. I never had such a big screen. Now I must do my best for these studies to be succesful...

I am a little sick today and yesterday as well ; I probably caught a virus. So I did not get much done these two days. Nothing to worry about. Just my stomach a bit messed up. I should be better tomorrow.

This month is also busy with lots of meetings of associations to discuss what they did in 2010, how much they spent and ernt, what they will do in 2011 etc. So getting myself busy going there to listen, take notes, make photos and then write articles for the journal.

And that's it...
So I might not me that much active this year again on Teddy talk. My appologies...
I keep visiting Teddy talk almost everyday, though. I am always interested in what's going on.

Oh dear! I had no idea the chaos was so wide!
I bought something on ebay from USA and it was posted the 7th of december and took exactly 21 days to eventually arrive.
i ordered a CD from Maple music that is supposed to be posted from Maple music uk but it looks like it will take longer than planned. So I will just wait, which I do not mind, as there is no emergency.

I really hope that all the bears on hold somewhere between two places will eventually arrive and that the unfortunate customers will understand that you, artists, are not the ones to blame ofr the poor delivery system.

I do not manage to connect to Lily's webcam. does not work with my computer and I have no idea why. I manage to connect to the others cam but not Lily's...

I plan to play with embroidery on a custom bear.

I will use a beautiful vintage velvet.

I want to know if some of you has ever embroidered ribbon on velvet... does it work well? I would not like to buy silk ribbon and then realise I cannot embroider it on velvet...

Meet Bleuet, the teddy bear I made for my little cousine Lise.

I used synthetic furs with an extra soft and silky pile.

He is 38 cm tall.

Do not worry too much, if I well remember, one of my bears took three weeks to go from France to England a few years ago...
So maybe your bear is just taking his time.

I will cross my fingers for him to eventually arrive safely.

This lady bear is gorgeous and I am happy she found a lovely home.

Your embroidery work looks fantastic. I was wondering whether it was possible doing ribbon embroidery on this kind of fur. So you answered my question. I am unsure whether or not I will have a go at it, though. I have all to learn first... and appropriate ribbons to buy!!!!!

Your bear Jojo looks terrific plus the photos are very good. I also think that people just cannot afford treating themselves with our bears. So just enjoy him while he is still in your hug and his timewill come eventually.

Here is Theodule, a big baby bear I made for my fiance's little cousin Enzo.
Theodule is made with synthetic fur and is 36 cm tall. He can stand on his own as I made him flat feet.

Enzo had his bear yesterday and was over the moon.

I am enjoying myself a lot. I do take the photos myself, Sue Ann. There might be an exception from time to time, but as long as I can, I take photos myself : much more exciting and rewarding.

As a child and a kid, I always dreamt to spend time among horses.
It stayed a dream as riding lessons have always been too expensive for my parents and then for me.

I am now lucky to live in an area with lots of horse farms around. I still cannot afford riding lessons, but now, I have a jocker : I am a correspondant for a local newspaper, which means I can show my nose and ask to make articles about their farms and events etc...   

I had my first opportunity to meet with horses and horse people not long ago for open doors in a friesian horse farm.

Right, I did not ask to ride one, but I could come close to them, which made me very happy!!!!!

Almost all horse farms in my area are specialised in racing horses, so discovering that firesian horse farm was a nice surprise. These horses are so beautiful and fantastic!
