I liked the straight so much that I bought the curly kid.

I mailed mine yesterday.

Fran, I have already received your lovey card.  It made me feel very important to receive mail from Australia

Thanks Daphne - I finally got a chance with the long weekend to work on my photography and design an avatar.
The fur is from Edinburgh - B16-2-9014  1" regular tipped straight in zotty with white tips.  It is incredibly soft and beautiful.

Melissa - your little ballerina bears are so precious.

Thanks, Kelly.   I had decided to do that when I realized I had to print full pages.

Kelly
Thanks so much for your instructions on how to create hang tags using Word.  I worked out great.   I only have one question.  I can easily print out a whole page ( front and back ) but how do I just print one tag and still be able run the paper through again to use the rest of the paper.  I can remove the card I just made and run the rest through again but it doesn't line up.   Is it a matter of moving the card design around on the template so it appears on the row I want to print?

Thanks,
Sandi

I prefer using the glued joints method - the limb can be completed finished and only one tool is needed for the tightening.  The problem with this method for me was that I was hearing the dreaded "snap" all too often.  I had an awful time with the glue holding.  For this reason I started using set screws.  I came up with the perfect compromise.  I use set screws but glue them on to the disc like it would the machine screws.  If I hear the "Snap" instead of having to open everything up and redo it I just use the allen wrench to hold the screw while I tighten.

My only other problem was general clumsiness.

That typically is my problem.

Deb,
How did you get unstuck.  Did you have to wait for hubby to come home?

Jane,
I always used to use the glued  joint method.  When the joints stayed glued everything worked out fine.  All to often though I heard the pop when I was tightening the joint and realized the glue had given way.  This happened so often that I started to use set screws.  I still prefer the glued joint method but need to find a glue that doesn't fail me.

Lovely - I have always admired her work.

Well, I'm glad to hear that it is typical to have trouble holding on to that tiny allen wrench.   I thought it was just me.  I have been using a pair of needle nose pliers to hold the allen wrench.  I found a set of wrenchs in a case.  The wrenches swing out like blades in a jack knife there by giving me a handle.  I haven't used it yet but I am hoping it will work out better than my present method.

I learned not to ask the guy at the hardware store for the kind of stuff we need.  They never have it and the conversation always goes just as Jared described.  It is just a lot of wasted time and the hardware guy thinks the whole thing is just plain weird.

Daphne,
I am really enjoying your tutorials.  As you may remember you are the one who started me on using the set screws.  I always use them to join the head now.  I also like to be able to completely finish the limbs before I attach them.  The problem I am having is holding on to the small allen wrench.  I noticed yours has a handle.  Is that type of thing available for the 1/8 size?

Great Job.  What a clever idea.  I love the outfit.

Jenny - what a sweet little bunny.  I love everything about him.  Your work is so wonderful.  All your critters have such a personality.  I admire your skill.

Daphne,  Titus is adorable.  I make my own bows out of fabric sometimes too.  I do that when I want to give my bear a homespun country look.
I agree with Penny - after putting all kinds of work and love into a bear it is a shame to skimp on the ribbon.  Sometimes the right accesorry makes the whole look.

Great links - I love to browse those kinds of sites.

busted.JPGI love all your stories.  Pets are so wonderful and charming.  My kitty knows where I keep the cat food and when I'm slow at getting it for her she marches over to the cabinet and opens the door to speed things up.  One of my other kitties tells me when it is time to go to bed.  She scolds me quite loudly if stay up past my bed time.
I call this picture "Busted"

Rita - I'm so sorry this had to happen to you.  From all of the posts it looks like you have a lot of friends to lean on.

What a sweet little bear.  All of your bears are so precious with such sweet little faces.

I'm sorry to hear that Hyacinth is missing.  I have three pussy cats of my own and know how much you can come to love them.

Sorry to hear about your bunny.  I have had bunnies in the past and know how delightful they are.
