I never made a real fur bear but
love to learn about it. I was thinking to
take the Nancy Tillberg's fur bear class
this year . I won e-bay auction and received the old fur coat. its a SEAL fur...anyone knows about SEAL fur??? It is dark brown and soft touch. However it has allots of holes so I'm not sure if I can make 15"bear from this coat...

I 've made new bear last night.
I did the little of mouth sculpting and
oil painting (at face and foot). Some how
she looks like a CAT!?  oops....

Millie, I love big size bear !
I don't own one yet but as a bear collector(sorry don't have an artist bear yet)I would love to adapt big size 20" or more,  I like to hug them  
I'm making 7"-15" size now , and I only sold 6bears in the past, I sold
5 of 15"bear and only 1 of 10" bear.
I really don't sell enough to have an opinion   but I would love to try
a bigger bear too !
And as kelly said, I will try to make
a variety of sizes to find out which goes best for me.

The stuffing is my biggest trouble always...
I like to stuff just :farm: not too hard like
a :rock: but it is very hard to stuff  as *even look* for me. Ｉ'm using T-handled, wooden, stuffing stick for the nose area because I like to stuff gentry for nose, and  I use cotterkey(is this correct spell?) for other area. Cotterkey is the tool for cotter pin joint. It can smash the stuffing
faster but problem is cotterkey are  big and  too strong , it can break the mohair easily and I just made a hole in 2ankles recently.....
I love to try the "Ultimate Stuffing Tool".  too !
I just sent a e-mail to Donna, I hope she will accept order from Japan too. if not I will cry and :(

I really  need to learn HOW to streamline my bear making
process! ! 

Oh no, that is what I'm doing now and I hate it !!! :(:(
I started making 7bears from middle of MAY and
I've completed only 2 !!! This is JULY already and I'm
still stuffing stuffing. I usually make only 1 to 2bears
in a MONTH so I knew this will be challenge to me..
I will make only 1 or 2 at once and don't try to meake
more beas at onece ;)

For the supply, I shop from Intercal every 2-3month
for Mohair and felt,eye.  I buy other stuff  from local craft shop.  I like to keep enough supply to complete 2-3bears
...

I trim the fur on seams too but since I'm beginner I can't
trim *EXACT* 1/4inch.... So what  I do is just try to trim
*UNDER* 1/4inch (very carefully) then after I sew, I will
pick the fur out of seams.  I only need to pick a little of
fur now(due I already trimmed ) ,I feel it's worth to trim down....:)

Sorry I skip some previous post and just jump in now! I don't knit much so I stayed away from this topic but when I saw Judi's Knit bear I couldn't take my eyes off !! It is sooooooooo cute. Even I don't knit now I will love to try it
