It's great to hear that you daughter is recovering Nancy - Matthew David is a peach!
Grandchildren are GREAT are'nt they? My grandson Joshua cut his first tooth today, none of us had a clue until he bit the end of my nose and i yelled! His mum promptly put her finger in his mouth to check that i was'nt lying and he bit that too! OH the joys of garndparenting!
Congratulations Nancy
Penny
What Latin Shelli? I can't see any Latin or am i missing something?
Millie, i think the site will look superdooper when it's finished are you using Dreamweaver? Someone gave me the software but i have'nt had the chance to use it yet and was just wondering if i needed a phd in brain surgery to use it!
Penny
It's a funny thing is'nt it? Big is'nt cute is it? But i think my bears are more 'beary' looking than yours Jenny - you produce rounder bears with a less pronounced nose whilst mine are more traditional in appearance.
This is making me think a lot more about the psycological ( is there supposed to be an H in there?) effect that bears have on us human beans - i'm off for a fag and coffee to mull it all over
Penny
Sorry Millie but i can't access your website the message comes up as url not found!
Penny
Nancy - i shall keep everything crossed for your daughters recovery and i shall keep her in my prayers everyday.
I won't forget you either Nancy, you must be going nuts with worry
Penny
Yes Paula - you and me both like and produce bigguns don't we?
I think it would be hard to produce your style of bears in a teeny size don't you? Part of the charm is because they are huggable sizes - they have that 'pick me up or i'll die' look to them don't they?
I'm just trying to get the my head around the idea of smaller bears i always think back to being a kid and having a bear big enough to wrap your arms around - obviously i was a lot smaller then with shorter arms but i can't get that idea out of my head.
Penny
Growlers are Howlers
just cows or sheep
a Moo won't do
nor will a Ewe
'cos a bear
just needs to be
LOUDER
P.S. WHERE'S WONKY DILU EVERYONE?
Wow! 2 1/2" high is really teeny!
He's lovely Kim, can't see me going that small though; i'd end up in the looney bin
Amanda, i shall try that - don't worry about not being very technical - i'm not, so i understood exactly what you meant hehehe
Penny
Don't crack up yet Winney! It's nice to hear from you again.
But it's true is'nt it - you can't cuddle a 6 incher like a 16" incher can you?
hohohohoo
Penny
That's a good idea Amanda, i never thought of that. It would be pretty easy to downsize some of my favourite patterns, i'll give it try.
Sorry if you askes this before but i've been away from the board for a while and i must of missed it!
Can small bears be as huggy as bigger bears though? There's less space for squishy filling in their tums is'nt there?
I have to say that i'm a sucker for big bears cos they're sooo cuddly in your arms - if i tried to cuddle a little 'un it would probably get lost in my boobydoos
Penny
Hi All,
I've finally found some spare time and was just sitting here contemplating my navel when a thought came to me (yes i know that's rare)!
I favour making BIG bears, 16" and over - i've got a 22" bear on ebay at the moment - but do big bears sell better or worse than small bears? I know that some collectors prefer miniature bears and that others like to collect slightly bigger bears but what size sells the best?
Should i start making small bears or stick to the big cuddly ones? Do you make more money producing small bears - it takes me ages to sew a bear so i'm wondering just how much quicker i'd finish a smaller one.
The smallest bears i ever made were 6" high and a little Steiff lookylikey, they sold really well perhaps i ought ot dig the pattern out and get cracking.
Big bears do seem harder to sell although i always get emails from collectors saying how much they like them - maybe people simply don't have the space!
Anyway girls - i look forward to hearing your venerable views on this subject
Penny
Bet i know the local rag that you're talking about Jenny. Happened to me earlier this year and i had a right to-do with them - they are really nasty. Bear in mind that someone at TBTimes gave them your name, i no longer subscribe to the TBT. Contact me privately if you want the full story of my experience with them.
Cheer up ducks - they're just a bunch of losers
Penny
Clare, if you don't get your act together the big scary monster is gonna come and get yer - suck yer brains out - poke yer eyes out with a stick and make you as fat as a pig with the munchies, and probably give you acne too so GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER !!!
Nice to know you're ok despite the lapse in beary concentration
Pen
Don't put anyfing in yer gob after 7 pm and cut out potatoes pasta & bread.
Exercise is the key but it's gotta be what you feel comfortable with - if you have a cleaner/Au pair/gardener etc do all the work yourself and take LOADS of vitamins and eat good food
Don't eat carbs for three days and see how you feel sweetie - if you feel a bit like your throat has been cut then you know you are addicted to carbs. Cut out booze too - booze makes you crave carbs and don't i know it!!!!
Good luck from a pig who should know better but still tucks into homemade pasta and drinks champagne when i know i should'nt
God Bless,
Penny
YEAH, SUE ANN
do i have a story to tell !!!! - i may have to tone it down a bit for the genteel ladies here - but i have to say that Dilus' golliewollikins only have a small part to play in it as it was all too much for their delicate sensitivities. Dilus' gollies are naturally good clean living little creatures and i feel that they should be protected from the harsh realities of life in the French Alps !
Penny
Dilu,
you are without doubt a diamond among the rough of the rest of the world and i'm glad that i can call you a bearyfriend
I don't know what's going on with the US economy but i do know that i ADORE the little golliewollies i bought from you
I WILL BE POSTING A FULL REPORT OF DILU'S GOLLIEWOLLIKINS ADVENTURES IN THE FRENCH ALPS WITHIN THE NEXT FEW DAYS - WE HAVE ALL RETURNED JUST A FEW HOURS AGO AND ARE WORN OUT, SWEATY AND ARGUMENTATIVE AT THE MOMENT - when we all calm down and have had a good nights kip (sleep) we can fill you all in with the gory details.
BOY DO I HAVE A STORY TO TELL - SOME PICCIES TOO !!!!!!!!!
Penny
I LOVE this little disaster head - PLEEEEEZE don't throw him in the bin!
He's not ugly, just unconventional-looking - if all uglybugs were put in the trash then there would nothing but beautiful babes left - how boring!!!
Pennypoodles - an ugly bug, so i know what i'm talking about
My dear dear DilyDilu
I'm thinking of you and keeping everything crossed that you get over this madbad head of yours soon.
Take a well deserved break, put out the lights and sleep as much as you are able.
GET WELL SOON WONKS :)
Pennypoodles
This is just SO UNFAIR Wonks!
Do you know what happened to me once - no i can't say as i start to get all withdrawn and weird - but suffice it to say - it was an experience i shall NEVER forget
(Bet that's where my grey hairs have come from)
Here's a song for our intrepid friend PenPen who has a great love for all things with 8 legs :lol::lol::lol::lol:
I am only sharing-I didn't create :D
I knew an old lady
who swallowed a flyI don't know why
she swallowed the flyperhaps she'll die
I knew an old lady
who swallowed a spider
it wiggled and jiggled and tickled inside herShe swallowed the spider
to catch the fly
but I don't know why
she swallowed the flyperhaps she'll die
I knew an old lady
who swallowed a bird
how absurd
to swallow a birdShe sallowed the bird
to catch the spider
that wiggled amd jiggled and tickled
inside hershe swallowed the spider
to catch the fly
but I don't know why
she swallowed the flyPerhaps she'll die
I knew an old lady who swallowed a cat
Think of that
She swallowed a catShe swallowed the cat
to catch the bird
she swallowed the bird
to catch the spider
that wiggled and jiggled and tickled
inside hershe swallowed the spider
to catch the flyBut I don't know why
she swallowed the flyperhaps she'll die
I knew an old lady who swallowed a dog
What a hog!
She swallowed a dogShe swallowed the dog
to catch the cat
she swallowed the cat
to catch the bird
she swallowed the bird
to catch the spider
that wiggled and jiggled and tickled
inside hershe swallowed the spider
catch the flybut I don't know why
she swallowed the flyperhaps she'll die
I knew an old lady who swallowed a horse
She's dead of course!

What a varied bunch of music tastes we all have - just like the bears we produce really!
My favs are: Velvet Revolver - Muse - Kings of Leon - Killers - Starsailor - System of a Down - Greenday - Scissor Sisters - in fact, LOADS of different bands. Mostly i like loud banging music but i'm with Clare on the old crooners too. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald et al. Also i love Tamla Motown cos i know the lyrics and can sing (or screech) along with the tracks. Al Green is superb.
I came from a musical household - my favourite uncle was a jazz pianist and me mum could play boogie woogie piano instinctively but not read music - she figured that if she could work it out in her head why bother to learn.
My Grandpa played the accordian and would drag me round the pubs of north London with him. He'd stand me on a table and i'd have to dance and sing along - i must of made him a fortune but he did give me half a crown pocket money a week which was a heck of a lot of money in those days (the 60's). It went in favour that i looked like Shirley Temple - ringlets, chubby legs etc. No wonder i've got a complex!!!
One of my barmy aunts belonged to the Salvation Army and played the tambourine and other instruments really badly but hey! she enjoyed herself
I was taken to loads of concerts in the 60's even though i was only 6-7 years old so have seen stacks of great artists in my time - this could also be the reason that my hearing is shot to pieces! Boy, did they have the music loud in those days! What with the screaming fans too i'm suprised i'm not totally deaf by now:o
I saw: Jimi Hendrix - The Who - Beach Boys - Sonny & Cher - The Temptations - Diana Ross & the Supremes - Procal Harem - Billy Fury - Adam Faith - Status Quo - Rolling Stones and stacks of others that most of you are too young to remember - Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Titch anyone???????
I always play my music toooooo loud cos i think it's the only way to listen to it - but in retrospect it's probably the old bad hearing thingy
Pennypoodles
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!
You ask me about a film then you can't remember what it's called yourself Wonks?????
Dear Lord help me - Wonks has set me off thinking about things that i should'nt be thinking of this time of the night: sorry, morning now is'nt it?
Wonks - i'm throwing in the towel. W.C. will have to wait until tomorrow/today/whatever.
Sleepytime Penpen
NO Sue Ann!
NO MORE BEE THINGY PLEEZE!
Maybe i should watch out for Nance - she might creep up behind me and knock me out with a cotton ball doused with Elizabeth Arden nail polish remover. Please check up on me if you don't all hear from me again soon!
