I only get a chance to pop in here once and a while but I just spent about an hour looking at all your shops!
Everyones items are lovely and just so unique!!
I love etsy too and sometimes get lost looking at all the wonderful things there!
My shop is http://ydaydream.etsy.com
Thanks for posting this message - It was fun "shopping"
Congratulations Maria! He is such a handsome and regal bear!! He deserves an award! (of course you do to as you brought him to life
My Mom was terrible allergic to msg - She would would get all itchy and could barely breath and get a huge headache after eating just a little.
She ended up in the hospital several times after asking restaurants if they use it. It is a scary ingredient!
I have been making some pincushions and just using the regular poly fil. I hope it doesn't cause the pins to rust.
I have dolls that are stuffed with wire and regular stuffing and they have never rusted.
I wonder if it has to do with the amount of moisture in the air. Interesting subject!

They are all just darling!! Love the little hats. Good luck with your show!
Edinburgh Imports sells some mini print fabrics. I'm not sure what "skin" prints they have. If you look in their catalog they have a mini fabric section. Their fabrics are wonderful to work with.

You could maybe use a solid color and paint on the spots.
I am so glad I found this post, I too have been wanting to make an antique looking bear but haven't had the courage to try or know where to start.
I was reading some techniques used by primitive doll makers, they seem to use coffee grounds and cinnamon to age their dolls (the extremely grungy ones.) I don't think that I want to put coffee grounds on a bear or doll for that matter. It seems so dirty!
I found a product in the store that is an antiquing gel medium. It is with the craft paints. It comes in various shades I have tried it on muslin but not mohair. It is difficult to control but can be lightened with a little water. You paint it on and then rub off. If you are not careful it can make things very dark.
What typed of mohair would be the best to use? sparse? ratty? or ?
Thanks for all the tips
Very cute! They both make me smile

That must be heartbreaking. I am so sorry.
I was a little disappointed too as my name was spelled wrong.
All and all I thought it was a great idea. I hope they do it again in the future.
I loved the college of all the bears. I think that they should make it into a poster.
Yvette

Thanks Kim- I will take a look at these eyes.
I don't like the eyes on a wire. I tend to break the wire off cuz I pull too hard when insetting the eyes so will look at the pre looped ones.
Yvette
I was wondering what your favorite eyes are? and where do you purchase them.
I usually use black onyx beads but would like to try something else. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Yvette
