I've finished my first new bear in two years!! I've list him over on eBay, starting bid only $25 with $5 shipping!!
Take a look and let me know what you think!
My mother was an avid bunny collector. She past away 2 years ago and her bunnies are still filling my home. This cute little feller was made as a gift for my her in 2009. So it's basically new, never left the house it was born in, sat on the same shelf since it was finished.
Thanks everyone! I'm really excited about this.
So I have been AWOL for awhile. (looking at my past posts, it's been way longer than I thought...)
I wanted to say hello to my old friends and hello to all the new people here (although, the "new" people to me may be old to ya'll)
Looking around my overwhelmingly messy craft room the other day, my hubby asked why I haven't made any bears lately... I couldn't answer. I'm mostly been painting and such, but I really miss teddy bears.
So I've decided I need to start again, and where else would I start? By getting envolved here again, of course! I know I didn't post much before, and will probably not post much again, but I do sooooo love looking at all the amazing bears and friends posted here.
So... HELLO!!
Just ADORABLE!!! I will adopt one of your bears one of these days!! (or years... )
beautiful!
LOL

Here's mine!! She's gonna try to help with my Memphis expenses, so her name is "Mem"!!
I've got my panda head done!! Poor little feller just needs me to make his body now.
Kristina, I did that for PayPal... under "My Account" -> "Profile" -> "Account Information" -> "Notifications", down at the bottom of that is a section titled "Information Sharing" UNCHECK THAT BOX!!
Like I said, I have NO IDEA exactly what went on, wether they were hacked or just shady and illegal pratices... can't say until it goes all the way through and/or we get in contact with Skype. BUT... Skype's "phone number" is consistantly giving a busy signal and their contact form won't transmit, conviently for them!
My bank is issue-ing me a new card, at my expense. But they said they will refund any fees and return the transaction amount once it clears the bank. (still hasn't yet, just "pending")...
yep. just a pain in the butt!!
I recieve an email every morning regarding my bank account. This morning, it showed 2 transactions that didn't belong to me. Now the bank can't do much until tomorrow, but they have been very helpful so far. I do, however, have to close the account and open a new one. Here's what happened:
Apparently PayPal or eBay has given Skype my BANKING information. It's one of eBay's companies. Either someone HACKED Skype or Skype just trolls around and CHARGES PEOPLE hoping they don't notice $18 or $20 charges. I searched the internet regarding Skype and this is a problem that has been ON-GOING FOR OVER 4 YEARS. People with eBay or PayPal account with a credit/debit card attached are at risk. eBay's response to all that I have read has been "Skype is a third-party" and eBay has no control over them... EBAY BOUGHT SKYPE 3 YEARS AGO.
Anyhoo... watch yer accounts closely people!! And you need to TURN OFF notification of, and TO, third-parties in you profiles. I didn't even know I had that turned on!!
Hopefully the lovely bank people will take care of everything tomorrow, but it's a pain to have to change everything.
Wendy, ME TOO!!
I have "bear-making" movies! I have a tendancy to start a bear and not stop until I fall asleep or finish, so watch movies helps me along. :)
Also, one of my girls pointed out the other day, while vaccuming me (yes, ME) that I tend to wear (subconsciously) the same BLACK sweat pants everytime I cut out and trim a messy fur/mohair!! EVERYTIME!! And I always tell myself not to wear them next time I'm cutting...
Mine's not so fun as everyone else's!!
My first website was on Tripod and that's the ID they gave me... it just stuck!
Sounds like a scam, or rather a company just trying to get you to switch your domain registar. I would check with whomever you have your domain with, maybe forward the email to them.
Check with your hosting company too if you are worried. Also, go to http://www.icann.com/ and read up on current policies. It's my understanding that you have the name, you can not be force off of the name unless you are infringing on a trademark.
Don't take my word for it, I haven't been in the internet business for years. Maybe someone else more knowledgable will come along soon.
Thanks for the links Daphne!! I knew there was a thread or two for "first bears" and that I wasn't crazy!
I was looking and looking for the thread about first bears... either it got very buried or I was imagining there was a thread about them!
Anyhow... I was going through my stash the other day and I found the fabric I usesd to make my second bear. I had to make a new one.
First, here's the second bear I ever made, it now belongs to my oldest girl:
And here's a picture of what I have made so far (poor little feller has no arms or legs yet) with the fabric:
What a difference 3 years make!!
Anyone else wish to share first/second bears?
I used to love going to camp.
I am a redneck and love NASCAR.
I am a mom and love kids.
I love making bears...
Put that all together and here is the perfect link for a charity project!!

:)
just thought I'd share!! They are expecting over 2000 campers and each one takes home a stuffed bear or horse and a home-made afghan or quilt.
I'm hoping to do a couple or more bears this year. And my youngest kiddo wants to learn how to quilt. I thought what better way to learn and to also give!!
Judi, YES that really happened! In fact, it was more like the 3 Stooges than I made it sound. Hunter was very close to the snake when she first saw it, but far enough out of danger. No one was ever close enough to be in danger.
And I did leave out the part where I realized I had a weed-whacker in my hands, but it was too late to try to use it!
Dilu, we are all laughing about it, especially the skunk part! We aren't smelling anything today... either it didn't spray bad or we are WAY too use to it.
"AAHHH!!! Mommy!! It's a snake... A SNAKE!!! It's a rattler!! RUN!!!"
"Shhhh... honey, that's not a rattler, there's no rattle. Let me see..."
"It's a copperhead!!! RUN!!!"
After 15 to 20 minutes of throwing things at it because we can't find a hoe, even though we were GARDENING at the time... it crawled under the house. Oh great.
15 minutes after that, the dog had it cornered under the steps.
My brave 77 year old father... "Get a gun."
Yep... he shot it.
My cowardly 74 year old mother... "They come in twos..."
EEEKKK... but no sign of another.
3 hours later the same big dumb dog is after something in the front yard under the bushes. "What is it? The other snake?"
"No mommy... it's... it's sorta bigger and black..."
"Ok... let me go look."
The dog is SHREADING something... then jumps back fast... runs to the porch... MOUTH FOAMING....
OH THE SMELL!!! Yep. It was a skunk!! And it sprayed him right in the mouth. But it was either a baby or didn't get him too bad, because the smell didn't fill the house. (No, the dog hasn't come in the house...)
I love the country. I hope tomorrow is calm.
Thank you all for such great suggestions!! I'm glad everyone is posting on this topic.
I have decided to go ahead with the bear. I guess I was fretting over nothing. I should have just gone with my heart from the beginning!
I was going through some old things in our storage and found a couple of old patterns that were either my mom's or my grandma's...
One was a 1978 Raggedy Ann & Andy pattern from McCall's. Now, mind you, these patterns weren't in their orignal packaging, but rather a big zip lock bag. So I assumed someone had made these and kept the pattern for future reference. Then probably my mom found them and placed them in the bag.
I thought, hey, I'm gonna check out Andy's hat and see how it was made. So I took the pattern out and not only has the pattern NOT been used, but it had the orginal face iron-on transfers in it. And two transfers of the two of them in cartoon form, I suppose to print on a child's shirt or something... BUT it also had the "I love you" heart transfer!!!
My grandmother had made me a set 40 odd years ago and of course, she NEVER used a pattern!! Oh!! Such memories of those dolls!!
Sorry, I just had to share my fun find!
Thanks Sue Ann! You are right, we are all different!! I shouldn't second guess myself and I'm off to sketch out that bear I wanted to do.
Thanks Sue for a laugh!! You are right on the money!! I can't tell you how many times I've named a bear, came here first before putting it up for auction, and finding another bear with the same name!! I've given up naming them and have given that job over to my girls!
