Well thats why I was asking. hahahaha
It is a lot different in the doll world, you use Barbie, Gene, Tyler dolls and you use them as your canvas to create fairies, mermaids, etc.
They are still listed as artist dolls, OOAK, etc, but I didnt know
how is was in the bear world.

Guess I will have to get to work on designing my own pattern soon!

Today was my first day using the oil paints to shade my bears face
and it works great!!!  Just love the look!

TamiL

If you make teddy bears from different artists patterns and not your own, patterns from books, magazines, etc. and you sell them, how would you label them?
I noticed some definitions in my latest bear book as:

Artist Bear:  A teddy bear conceived, designed and created by an individual.

Artist Designed Bear:  The pattern was conceived and designed by one person, but created by others.

Bear Crafter: One who makes teddy bears using patterns that they have not created themselves.

I am sure it will be awhile before I design my own bear pattern. So if I want to sell the bears I have made from patterns out of books, kits, etc, I know the right thing to do is list the artists name that designed the pattern.  But to say it was created & sewn by me????
What would be the best way to word this? Any advice???

Thanks,

TamiL

Well it sounds like we are a very talented group.........
I design my Dolls N Dreams dolls, I love needlepoint & painting, cooking & baking, except this high altitude is working me over with my baking   bear_angry

I started eating like the Body for Life on Jan 1st,
and working out with weights 4 times a week and I have lost
5 pounds.  Drinking a ton of water, and that really helps to
pull weight off, so dont' forget tons of water!! Its a great program
if anyone has not tried it.

The before and after pics are amazing! Thats what I'm wanting
to do is lose the fat and gain muscle.

I quit smoking 5 yrs ago and I had put on 20 pounds so
I'm still trying to get about the last 10 off. And you know how it is , once
you hit your 40's it does not come off as easy. So I'm going
to stick with it.

I didn't list her  here because Ebay is making me feel ...hummmm, what's a good word.  I don't know, I guess I am loosing my confidence.  Can't explain it.
I have lost my desire to create something, only to put hours and hours of work in it , think it looks great and then get very low bids, which we all know is a direct indicator as to how good your work is...at least that is how I see it.  So what I think looks good actually must not be.

..

Nancy, your work is wonderful, ebay is just kinda strange! And it depends on the people bidding, what they are collecting at the time, what might appeal to one might not appeal to another. I have been designing dolls and selling them on ebay for 8 yrs now, and I have seen highs and lows with my dolls. I sold a Gene doll designed to look like Snow White about 6 yrs ago, listed her with Ebay, and she ended for over $1,300.00 and most of my barbie fairy designs were selling for
$350.00 and higher. They don't get anywhere near that today and my quality of work today is 10 times greater, so go figure! I think people stop collecting dolls and start collecting other things so you lose those customers and its like you have to start all over again , trying to get people to buy your creations , so they can at least see the quality of your work.  And the selling at show is so expensive. So what do you do. hahahahahah
All I can say is you are very talented and creative, so keep on keeping on!
You go girl............ bear_original

Hugzzzzzzz

TamiL

She is so adorable, you did a wonderful job and her name is Tiffani  bear_wub
She reminds me of my Tiffani when she was a puppy.

TamiL

Hi,
I have sold on Ebay for close to 8 yrs now, I have used a 3, 5 or 7 day.
Alot of my customers won't bid until the last few minutes so the length of
the auction does not seem to matter that much.
Always try and have your auctions end after the weekend, and not during busy
peak times.
Ending sunday night, not to late is always good.
I have noticed using a reserve sometimes seems to scare bidders away, even
if you start with a low starting bid.

Your usually better off starting it at a price you are comfortable with knowing
that it just might end for that price.
You can also add a buy it now, I have sold quite a few dolls putting that option
in the auction.  People that don't like to get into bidding wars seem to perfer
that option.

Just my few cents worth I guess, anyways good luck with your future auctions  bear_original

.    I think it is called mis-management.  I dauddle away at things that I shouldn't be doing (like chatting on TT) and don't do what I need to be doing.
I need someone with a whip or maybe it would be a little easier if I took a class in self-discipline.
Nanc....

I'm with you, that is how I feel sometimes.  I'm home all day, but between trying to design my barbie dolls and wanting to play with learning how to make Teddy my day seems full.  bear_rolleyes
