No snow for me yet. I do love when it snows, so I'm ready for it!
I don't have to work outside the home so the traveling part isn't so bad for me. My fiancee however has quite a long drive to work, which means I have a lot of free time at home to worry about him.
Sorry I can't help you either, but I'm very interested to hear what everyone else has to say. I'm just getting started on my own as well.
Happy Thankgiving, everyone!
Dilu- your pumpkin pudding sounds yummy!
I must admit I am one of the crazy Friday shoppers, although I won't be going this year. Dilu, you're right, there isn't anything on such good sale to justify leaving my house at 5:30 am to shop. But for me it's more about having fun with the ladies in my family. Usually my mom, sister, my aunts and I all load up and go together. My mom unfortunately can't make it this year due to health issues so I've decided it's not worth it if she can't go.
What a beautiful couple, Anne. I"m sure they will be loved and cherished always.
Thanks for sharing with us!
Dilu, it is fabulous! I really like it. What a great job Shelli did.
Amanda, he is a real cutie!
I can't wait for the pumpkin pie! Yummmmmy!
That's really sweet of you all. I'm sure your thoughtfulness is deeply appreciated.
Hmmm....I was at the hospital yesterday. Guess I'll have to give a bear to myself!
That was hilarious, Sue Ann! I'm half temped to give it a try. I've never cooked a turkey before, shouldn't the first one be something to remember?!
It's beautiful, Fran! What a great piece!
I love those Magic Erasers! I haven't tried them on the walls, but they work wonders for scuff marks on the floor.
Congrats to all of you! That must be very exciting for you all!
Thanks, Laura
That's what I figured. I wouldn't want everyone I buy from sending me emails.
Do you think it's okay to email past customers even if they didn't ask to be on a mailing list?
Kathy, he is so cute and festive! Love his face!
My family always put up the tree shortly after Thanksgiving. Maybe a week or so before Christmas mom and dad would put presents under the tree that were just from them. Just a couple to get the kids excited. Most of the presents came from Santa which wouldn't make an appearance until Christmas morning.
Now, my fiancee, who is from Poland, would get the tree and decorate on Christmas Eve morning. They had their big dinner that same night. Sometime after dinner the kids would be occupied and the presents would be snuck in. A window would be left open to explain Santa's arrival and departure. Then all of the presents would be opened that night.
And now it's very weird for us. We put up the tree early the way I'm used to. We drive to Chicago (4 hrs. away) to be with his parents on Christmas Eve. There we do his family's traditions. Then on Christmas day we drive back home to have dinner with my family. So Santa doesn't have time to get to our house until Christmas night. I love the idea of Santa coming in the middle of the night so my daughter waits until the day after Christmas for her Santa presents!
Judi-I started my first non-crocheted teddy a few days ago. I was still sewing at 1 am not only til I couldn't see straight, but until I couldn't see at all...I fell asleep!
Dilu, you are not alone.
I always have my shopping done early, so as soon as his presents are wrapped and under the tree the nagging begins. He whines like a 3-year old and I always give in. I make him leave at least one present for Christmas though.
Now I, on the other hand, like to wait for Christmas. Which is a good thing since he usually doesn't buy me anything until Christmas Eve!
Judi- I remember when I was a kid, the presents that were from mom & dad would go under the tree a week or two before Christmas. One year I remember we kids were home alone after school while the folks were still at work. Yup, we carefully untaped the presents to peek inside then retaped them. I know it ruined the surprise but we didn't care. I think the high we got from sneaking around like that lasted us until Christmas!
My fiancee is from Poland so our cabinets are stocked with Polish chocolate which, of course, he will say is the best. Most of it is from E. Wedel and I think there is also a company called Wawel that he likes too.
Oh, Melissa, he's adorable. I wouldn't change a thing about him! I too think that the wide forehead adds a childish quality to him. Very cute!
I used chenille stems in one mini bear a while back. It worked fine. I did curl the end before inserting so it wouldn't poke through the paw.
I hope noone thought I was trying to start an arguemnet. I only commented as a joke because there are so many good tips on this thread that I just don't understand.
Everyone has done a lovely job with their tags.
Lately I've been using the PC more because the monitor is flat and bigger, and it's faster than my mac. I don't do much design anymore (as I prefer making bears) so I can get by on the PC. I'm sure anything I can do on the mac I can do on the pc, it's just a matter of me figuring out how! The first computer I ever touched was a mac, so that's what I know best.
We should all print these out and laminate, then put in hubbies' wallets!
Oh, Nina, I'm so sorry about Andre. What a beautiful dog. Pets aren't just animals that we care for, they're part of the family. And grieving for a family member is really tough. So hang in there and remember all the days that you were blessed with his presence. Best of luck with your show. I hope it goes well for you.
