No I don't make any marks... just attach well with a few stitches into the inside of the limb... down low and even under where I do the ladder or attaching stitches. These are permanent stitches for me. I leave them in place. Then add some pins to make sure it stays right there.... then remove one pin, do a few little stitches and work my way around down inside the area removing a pin at a time as I go along so that nothing moves. Just take your time, do small stitches... make sure it stays exactly where you want and I can't stress enough...take your time.... sometimes it may seem a bit frustrating..but if you want it perfect...it all takes time. If it gets to you.... stop...... have a cuppa tea or something...then do a few more stitches... no hurry in your search for perfection. After a few you will get the hang of it...
I am not quite sure what you mean by marking the leg or body before you begin? do you mean as to where to attach the limb? Usually I wait til I have my body stitched and stuffed ...then see where and at what angle the leg needs to be attached in order for it to touch the ground in the right place to allow my animal to sit or stand properly. Don't want a leg cocked up in the air...lol
Also...just wanted to add here.... before I do the ladder stitch...I take a couple of good firm stitches through the inside of the leg to attach it first and get it to stay put in the exact spot I want it to be..and still have several tiny stick pins holding it till I get a good start on things or it will slide around while doing a ladder stitch
I know it is a bit awkward...but if you could try to put the ladder stitching underneath the edge of the leg... it would then look even more like a leg....you know how you see the edge of the leg when an animal is sitting...but you don't actually see where it is attached? You can slide your finger in between the top edge of the leg and part way down til you feel any attached skin? The attached part is actually hidden down under the visible roundness of the top of the thigh. I don't know if I am explaining it so you can understand me.... . but hopefully you will get what I mean. Then...you don't even see the stitches...and don't pull it so tight that it distorts...if it is stuffed nicely...and you get the ladder stitching going around evenly...and pulled it just tight enough...it should not distort things... this is a mini....but perhaps you can see what I am talking about here.....
hey Chloe....it is strange.... sometimes trial and error produces exactly what u are looking for. I checked out Joey as I still have him..and his head is not large in comparison to his body..and his arms are long...but legs are pretty short...hahhaha.... pretty funny overall...but maybe it is just his floppy jointed head and the face that does it for him.
I often make up a quickie from some felt scraps to see what it might look like... then make up the real thing in mohair....
Wow....great pics Jeremy. Sheldon and Franklin are pretty cute.
Debbie.... the robins come home to Canada every March the 15 (and usually get snowed on for the first two weeks or so) and they fly away south every October ...almost like clockwork. I look for them on those days and sure enough...find at least one has returned by then...and can only find the occasional not too bright one that stays behind after they finish off every last Mayday berry in October. They just have a built in timer or something.....
We even have dainty little birds like hummingbirds, warblers and thrushes.... it's not cold here all the time and it is too darn hot in some states in the summer months....they come here to get away from the heat in the summer...and go there to get away from the cold in the winter. The true Snowbirds.....
Throw a little vodka in the pineapple juice....
Don't panic Richy...we will go looking...... let u know if I see anything.... any particular Anime figure?
Eliza..... hey..good idea. Maybe we should all make a cat this week! That would be funny!~
Oh, oh....... I guess we all better just quit making bears..dolls ...ATC's... ACEO... gee...uh, knitting shawls...walking, talking...etc... and every thing else..cuz I am sure somebody does them. Hahahhaha....oh, brother...some people are just too weird for words and even for bothering thinking about.
Krista, think where this comes from...people like this are petty and just plain stupid ;.... in all honesty they do not warrant a moment of our valuable time. Carry right on with your great creations and be proud that somebody doesn't like the fact that you are becoming well known and doing very well with them. I would hurry and put another one ebay right away...... and say a big thankyou for the inspiration of a recent email fan named Kelly as the motivation.
She seems really relaxed and friendly.... and doing a great job as a Mom
....good for you Krista...I am glad that you are there for her and the kitties.
Nothing more dusgusting than people that are mean to animals in my book.
Things Russian.... a couple of collections of plates... Birds and Flowers of the Orient...and Hummingbirds.... love birds.... of course, my bears that I cannot part with yet... some English antique bits that came to Canada with my Mom and my Aunt...pastels of birds and cats... sigh... it goes on and on from the curio to the walls, to the barrister bookcase....
You'll be soorrrreeeee!! Wait til you get your hands on that stuff! You will be totally hooked...there goes any old budget Richy!!!
A somewhat larger head, feet and paws in relation to the smaller body size will often help too....
I just happen to love eyes and am always looking at them now that I draw them on my doll faces (and every other blank bit of cloth and paper sitting around this house!)...so...I like it. A lot.
Very cute Stephanie....and they look so soft.
OMG!! already?! Good for you Katrina!
I am sure it was as you said...you are in great physical shape from the rowing. It sure helps to be a normally healthy indivudual. Way to go.
Krista..... even if it was marked gift....it was over the $60 dollar limit so that is why you would have to pay.... but....they should only be collecting on the $6.00 and cents that it was over...not the full amount. Yep... Nancy mentioned it... there is a limit of $60 on gifts before you get dinged If it is a purchase of materials.. our limit is only $20..and then they tack on the extras (supposedly only on the amount over the $20, but you usually see it is on the full amount). Now what could we buy for less than $20 I wonder?
However it may be that you could send in the label that offers refund..it is very sticky and tough to get off the package..and the information is hidden on the underneath side...but it offers a chance to explain the situation and perhaps... just perhaps...there might be some reason they would return some of the money you paid. I have sent several and they did actually send me part of it. I wish there were some local customs people we could go to see with our wrecked parcels and their stamps and charges... we could at least get the questions straightened out. But... perhaps check out a phone number... maybe you can track down a customs official in the phone book and have a chat about it.
wooohooooo way to go Katrina....!!
Awww.... you are a nutcase just like me with baby animals...I had a squirrel baby that I rescued one time too.... but the story I wrote about it is even longer than yours...so, I will just send it to you via email so you can read it. I named my little guy Madgellen ...cuz I was not sure about it gender and because it was quite the little explorer. I didn't get to check out the "undercarriage"....I tried not to touch it as I was just guarding him/her for his Mom til he could climb back up with all of them ...and she was returning to feed and help him a bit every so often.
I bet little Snitch and Twitch did just great .... they were obviously little fighters.... they clung on till help arrived. Good for you Eliza. I have helped and rescued plenty of little ones...they actually survived and I saw several of them around here for years... recoginzed then by their funny or quirky traits that I came to know.
Gaby, it is wonderful to hear that your Dad is improving..... hang in there.
Hi guys!! I was at the monthly doll meeting this morning so just got home. That was fun to see the real people behind the avatars! lol
Edie wandered past our table and I was sort of looking at her from the back and side...thinking... hmmm... that sort of looks like Edie...... I figured if I yelled "Hey Edie" and it wasn't her... well, the woman would just keep on walking, but if it was her...then, I would have missed an opportuinity to say "hi" and meet a fellow TT'er. It is a strange feeling actually seeing somebody you only know from postings on here....
Then, I was looking at, or doing something else for a bit and turned around and there was another woman who looked familiar.... Heather! Too funny! Two in the same day....so we got talking and then Edie wandered by again so all 3 of us yakked for a bit. It is kind of like finding family members that you didn't know were visiting in the same area.
For sure if I can't manage a table of my own at the show this year I will try to be there just to meet more TT'ers and support the first bear show here in a long time...
Well, I for one will sure miss my daily chuckle Tami...the cute pic of the day is what we need to see instead of world news.
have a wonderful holiday....
oops
me typing same time too....lol
Chrissi... if you are the sender..you are the guy that gets reimbursed the insurance amount from the post office. What happens after that is between the buyer and the sender.
