WAAAYYY back in the early days of bearing I decided to make a realistic grizzly...... BIG MISTAKE....he looks like the monkey out of the movie "every which way but loose" and my darlin boys call him Clyde.

An artist friend was trying to talk me into making a realistic and week after week she'd email me and drive me nuts asking me about it......until......I took Clyde to a show where I was sharing accommodation with her.....the look on her face was priceless.....after picking her face up off the floor she said "Oh Dear" and never mentioned it again.

Clyde sits on top of the TV in my workroom to remind me that I CAN"T MAKE REALISTICS......I think I stuff too round.....you know...my bears have round faces like me bear_grin bear_grin bear_grin

Thanks for the nice words, Sueann, I love your work too, especially the 'chooks and chicks'

Denise, thanks for being so supportive, and I hope Thelma's well

Seaside-set.jpgI tend to make pieces that can be sold individually, but can create a 'set' appearance, if the collector wishes.  Hope that helps, Glenys

Dear Shantell, Just remember you can't have 'highs' without 'lows', so that was your low and everything will get better now.
Beary big hug, Glenys

Melissa, If you want to do a project for Bear Creations or Dolls, Bears and Collectables, email me and I'll give you the phone numbers of the editors.

I find its good publicity and I sell a limited edition kit with the project to pay for my time and effort.  Sometimes they do a profile on you as well, and that can be helpful to get your name 'out there'.

As for the negative comments...while they're talking about you, they're leaving someone else alone ;)

That's OK Daphne, when my whippet sticks his head thru the curtains to look out the front window, I call him Mrs. Cravitts and he's getting so used to it he's answering to it.  (My son calls him 'Poofta dog' tho, so I guess my nickname's better)

We love him heaps and won't be throwing him in the rubbish BIN anytime soon, but he sure is good with his tucker

I know this isn't about coffee or chocolate, but......while we're on the subject of food......does anyone know where I can buy Bisquick on the net?

I love the stuff for making scones and pancakes and can't get it.  I even emailed the makers and they don't sell it in Oz.

I told you about Tim Tams the other day

Hi Pam,

Welcome, I'm new too and these are beary nice people

I used candle wax once when I was out of bees wax and HAD to finish the bear quickly.

The results were OK, but difficult to do.  I lit the candle and dripped some wax into a saucer and used a brush to put it on the nose.  I then gave it a polish when set.  It doesn't give you the versatility of beeswax as you can't add more and just hope to get it in the right place when wet.

Hope that helps,
Glenys

Yep Shelli,

I do that too.  Only slightly differently.  I have a list of clients on a list, and everytime I make something new or different I send out a pic and info to my list.

Its strictly a first come, first served situation and whoever gets back to me first gets the piece.(even if they want to layby it).

Thank you Donna.

I can't believe the prices I just got

Can't wait for the mail in......say......2 weeks

I've been doing commisioned pieces for years, and I've had no problems.

I ALWAYS get a complete list of colour, style, dress fabric, embroidery or smocking etc., then give them a written quote.

A deposit is taken(Non-refundable) and they have the choice of paying in installments or at completion.

I tell them an approx. finish date (sometimes as far as 6 months) and most clients don't mind this as it gives them time to pay for pieces they might not have been able to afford otherwise.

I also do layby (Layaway) for the same reason.

When the piece is finished I email or snail mail a photo and I've never had any knockbacks or returns (touch wood)

I will not under any circumstances take an order for a piece that I don't want to do, or don't think will look like 'me'.(I've got to like what I do)

Hope this helps,
Glenys

It drives me crazy when patterns don't fit, and I couldn't go on until I'd fixed it, but I purposely put in abit of easing in the muzzle and the skull to get the fullness I want.
Like Penny I pin, pin, and repin, till I get the easing symetrical.

The footpads are different, I couldn't stand it if the pad didn't fit perfectly each time, you'd be putting me in a padded room if it kept happening

I do know people who sell patterns that don't fit and in one case its because she doesn't care if people can't get it to fit, because then they'll come to her classes to learn how to fix the problem.

Mmmmmmm,
You girls have got me craving some chocies :P

I'm a dark chocolate person too.....but I'll eat milk if there's nothing else.....but.....have you had Tim Tams?????

YUMMY biscuits (cookies)

Whenever we have overseas 'Doggie people' staying and we introduce them to Tim Tams we are forever being begged to 'send us some of those chocolate things PPPLLLEASE"

I guess I can search the pantry and find SOMETHING I need down at the store so I have to go down there....and while I'm there.....
