These were my rules to live by, when the weight was coming off:
An apple a day.
Eight glasses water a day.
Always leave a bite on the plate.
Use a small or medium plate, but not the large.
Eat slowly, putting down fork/spoon between bites.
To avoid bingeing, if you crave something, have a small portion.

I ordered from here years ago. Small shop, friendly, maybe a little slow as I recall. On line sampling is not all that they carry. http://www.imstuffedfur.com/homepage.html

Rita,
What about Columbia? How far is that from you. Also, Atlanta and outskirts isn't very far is it? They must have some pretty good craft shows/fairs. My sister used to live in Anderson, and then in Greenville. She's since moved to Charlotte, NC.

Thoughts and prayers out to anyone with family and/or friends in NO and Katrina path. New Orleans is SO rich in cultural diversity ... makes me sick to think of what could be lost.

Don't put anyfing in yer gob after 7 pm and cut out potatoes pasta & bread.
LOL ... Penny I am heeding your advice and am dismissing the gardener and cleaner ASAP. Knew about the potatos, pasta, bread, booze ... but have never heard it put so perfectly. Thank you ... truly.

Actually, the only diets that I've had success on have been the ones where I have had accountability. That is, an actual weigh-in, with someone, once a week.
Last time I was to the doctor, my cholesterol was up. Doc said ... go directly to WalMart and buy a copy of South Beach Diet ... which I did. It's a great diet and I was doing well until my daughter broke off her engagement and my son was arrested (it's all okay now) ... and I started stress eating. (I'm not sure, but I think it's some sort of term that means eating everything in site, 24/7.)
Now I just need to take the plunge and get started. I would be glad to pair up with someone and email weekly status but um ... I am thinking that I am not posting a weight here on this board, no matter how much I like these gals!

Dilu ~
Very nice! Just Thursday afternoon I stopped to a craft shop (with some friends as we needed a break from our Seneca Lake wine tasting tour) and they had a neat variety of hand felted items including a 10' long tug-o-war rope, a dog toy shaped like a bone, and large pots and baskets. Very cool, and very sturdy stuff. Will have to try someday.

<Chuckling> ... I owe that one to my brother. Does same kind of work it sounds, as your ex. I like PEBKAC too. Yeah ... another acronym!
I just thought I'd help out w/ confusion because there more than one Deb, plus at least one Debbie that I saw. Just added an NY for clarification. :D
Nighty-night!

I'm no expert, but I'm wondering if OTHER than high quality materials and workmanship .... is there an expected "standard" for proportions, and if so ... why do we bother? His head is large, but but IMO looks to fit with his tummy.
Good colors.

Awww ... he's cute. I know what you mean though about feeling that way. I still can't get a picture posted, and I am certain it's all user interface error. I'm waiting for the weekend when I'll have some extra time to send Quy a note and email pics.

So ... you mean you have to a) post the message and then b) go BACK in to edit and to Browse to insert photos. I am meaning to send all the pictures to Quy that I tried to upload but couldn't (from my hard drive) ... because I think they meet the requirements.
Hmm ...

<Echoing Shari> ... what the heck is fabric paper? Sounds like neat idea. Would like to try. Thanks SueAnn.

I enlarge picture of bear and print on large label (the UPS/DHL kind that are about 5ish x 7ish). Then I stick that onto a brown envelope (9ish x 12ish). Then I comment on the outside (center seam gusset, fat belly, one piece body, two piece body, short legs, etc.). I also keep an spreadsheet like Rita was saying, including mohair details and my thoughts about it, approximate cost of making bear, what inspiration was, etc.
I don't have a laminator. Expensive? Though my file system works for me, I could do better at protecting pattern.
Looking forward to hearing all your preserving/storing processes.

Hi Catherine ~
I've never attached claws, only sewn on, but I was thinking of trying to sculpt of polymer clay and attaching. Would have to make some sort of attached flange I would think. But I couldn't figure out how then, you would get the entire ... say 1/8" flange secured in the paw. I'm glad you asked the question!
Deb
Dilu,
You crack me up, and I needed a chuckle this pm. Your posts just seem to have that smidge of humor that you probably don't even think about, but that lift the spirit. Thank you. Yentle is adorable. But sounds like you're glad she's finished. I started out working with synthetics and found mohair to to so much more forgiving. I too hate the seams open up by discs. Too much pinching, pinning, fussing to get a good closure. Have you ever tried making a slit on the inside of appendages, above and below where the bolt comes through? I'm thinking of trying that.
Deb (woulda been DebbieLu if not for that typo!)
Yooohooo ... Shelli!
OK. Now I have a stupid question? Garnet is making me a light box but what do you recommend for a type of cloth or material?
What kind of fabric are you using ladies? The fabric I've draped over sides and top is translucent, i.e., light does go through, but perhaps isn't dispersing the light correctly.
P.S. I should confess that on my auction, I borrowed <shamlessly> part of your wording on international postage. It was stated so tastefully ~ I couldn't help it. Also ... I guess am going to have to email my picture I guess to Quy. I'm going to check one more time, but I'm sure falls within the specs she gave for posting.

Tips please on shipping outside the U.S. How do you determine shipping costs? Who is the best value (good price + reliable)?
Thanks much. Umm ... I didn't search for this topic, so if you're aware of another post, please just point me there.
