What the HELL did this guy think he was buying??!
Lol.. maybe I should ask him heehee

Melanie
sounds like we all stuff firmly. I think that's a nice difference between artist bears and the manufactured ones.
geeshand if you're not sleeping with them in bed at night, why does he care?
heehee, maybe he is wanting to sleep with it.. heehee.

My animals are stuffed quite firmly, not as rock hard as I used to though.
I had a customer just like that Melanie, that wanted to have the double neck joint removed (she thought is was not soft enough) and wanted to have half of the stuffing removed as well, then she also wanted to have the poor bear altered from girl into boy....I'm not into that kind of surgery, so I did not go along with her wishes and said she could send the bear back. If someone is going to buy my work, then they should understand that my creations feel as I like them to feel. I wonder what Vincent van Gogh would have thought if someone had sent him back his sunflower painting telling him that they liked roses much better....It would have depressed the poor man even more....

Ellen :rose:
Ugh, so she wanted you to mutilate your critter.. ack! Yeah, I would have done the same thing.. So did
she send it back? I don't think alot of people think of our art as what it is ART.

I have the Husqvarna #1+ (which is old now.. lol). I think the new ones are easier to use for the
embroidery, as far as programs go anyway.. mine is a pain in the buttola to program so I never
use it anymore.. lol.

Melanie
Well I have a feeling this guy does not know what an artist bear is..... but who knows..
I have not heard back from him yet..
Bear Hugs!
Melanie
Yeah, in the years I've been making bears I've rarely come across someone thinking a bear
was stuffed to hard.... I've had people request soft stuffed bears, which if the design allows I
am more than happy to make it that way. .... I remember the running joke we had at this one
show with this gal who stuffed her bears so hard I told her they could be used as a
weapon.. heehee... "look out or she'll club you with one of her bears" heehee. good thing she
had a sense of humor.
Anyway, I'd make him a soft one but it won't turn out like the picture and that is what he wants.
I think I will add that to my website that all my critters are stuffed firmly... just in case someone
else ever has an issue with being to "rigid".. hehe.. I probably shouldn't find that funny.. but
I've never had someone say my bears were not "pliable".... lol.
I'm waiting to hear from him now to see if he wants to return it or not.
Bear Hugs!
Melanie
Yeah, you are not allowed to charge the customer for the fees... Credit card companies will cancel
(or at least threaten to..lol) your merchant services if you try to ding people for using a CC as payment.
The only way to really get around it is to charge more for your item and then offer a discount
for people who pay by money order, cash or whatever. But really it's just a cost of business.. if
the fee's become an issue you just have to charge a little more for your work if you can

Congrats!! and Tiger looks really adorable with his bears
Well I got and order from my website and sent it off last week.. the fellow received it
today and send me this... " I was expecting “Fluffy” to be just that, fluffy. Instead “Fluffy” has a
rigid insides or framework. Is it possible to exchange this “Fluffy’ for a soft and pliable “Fluffy”?"
Are most artist bears stuffed quite firmly? lol... I know some people make soft squishy critters..
but I prefer mine to be stuffed so they keep shape well.
Anyone ever have this one happen.. lol. I just told the person that I don't make "pliable bears"
and if he wants to return it I will give him a refund.. I didn't know what else to say.

Melanie
Hahaha.. well not my taste.. but pretty funny. I had someone request a bear like that once.. lol.
I said no.. lol. That one I'll keep in my watch list. heehee.

I had a verry bad exp and and told the lady to make it herself.. heehee. She said she needed
this hideous bear thing on a certain date and so I rushed and put other orders behind to get it
done in time.. I took pictures and sent them to her while I was making it.... then she came to
pick it up and wanted a whole pile of changes done... I told her it was done.. that was it.. lol. So
I kept it... still have the poor ugly beast... never again!! lol
Hope you get yours sorted out.. I would just refund her money.
Huuuuuuugs!!
Melanie
I just got a call from Mindy and Snazzy has won an Industry Choice award!!!
WOOOHOO Terrie!! Yay!!! Super Hugs!!
Melanie
I usually put my stereo on with some loud music... or I put on a movie I love, one that I've seen enough times that is does not distract me.... well not too much.. heehee.
I use to love to listen to talk radio when I was sewing.. but I've gotten kind of tired of the same old
ramblings.. lol... but at least it was something kind of new everyday! I think it's different when you
sew all day everyday.. When you have to work away from bears it is nicer to just be able to sit
and have peace other than being at work... but when uyou make bears full time you just want to
know what is going on outside.. lol.

Melanie
lol, I love the lampshade idea.... heehee.... ugh, I can really picture myself one day in a creepy
house filled with strange things and too many cats... heeheee.
ummm... Scarves would be cool, I had someone ask me to make them a string mohair
skirt.. lol... I made mohair Dog Booties for a client once.. lol.
I always wanted to make a mohair purse... Or seat covers for my truck.
~Hugs!
Melanie
Queen,
I found the lampshade idea to be a bit over the top myself! When I think fur lapshades I picture the red velvet lampshades in wh#r# houses myself!!! Not that I've been in one, but I've seen 'em on TV. Better shut up here!OK... so...
Cat toys
Cat beds (Dog beds too!)What else?
b]WHY do you collect teddy bears?[/b]
They inspire me and make me happy just to look at them or to have something to cuddle.. Some
of my antiques I have bought for investment.. but I have to love them.... so they really aren't
an investment.. heehee.. (a good way to convince yourself to spend big $$ on an antique.. heehee)
HOW did you discover the (adult) world of teddy bear collecting?
A Teddy bear shop that my Mom and I came across when we were out on a shopping
trip one day.... I had been collecting those manufactured bears that people dress before that and
when I saw these fantastic artist bears ...I was in awe!
WHAT kind of bears do you collect... and WHY?
I collect artist bears and antique bears... even some manufactured bears.. I usually will buy something
because it is unusual or just because it appeals to me.
WHERE do you buy your bears?
Ebay, websites, bear shows, antique shows, stores.
HOW do you display your bears?
I display my bears on shelves and in cabinets with antique dolls... on Chairs.. pretty much anywhere I
have any space left.. heeeheee.
