who was that...? I'm so comfortable I fell asleep. No problems Penny. I'm still waiting for the joints to finish your bear, so I will get comfy and spring into action when they arrive.
Its funny about metric. I make my own curtains. Its always 52" to 54" wide but I ask for the length in metres. We drive in miles per hour but I measure in centimetres and metres. My bears are always in inches, and my height is 5 foot 8 inches. Amy is 1.5 metres in her clothing label sizes. My tins of beans come in grams but if I weight flour for baking I weigh in ounces. No wonder we are confused.
If I remember my largest bear was about 22" (see inches, not centimetres) I was lucky to get £140 at the time. Those were the days.
Shelli and one or two of the others might be able to help. I have used larger eyes years ago and found when matching them up I had to match the 'domed' part as some were very different. Maybe a different brand might help. Could be worth looking at more needlesculpting. I have to do more for my larger doll eyes (for my bears) to sit straight when I glue them on. Let us know how you go on its always nice to see artists changing their styles.
It just blows me away how you get the colours just so. I think your layering approach adds to the realism.
Forgot to say how about Theo?
Its really nice to hear people are doing well. Jenny had a good fair yesterday too. Now all we need is ebay to get better!
I use kapok too. Also the steel shot.
You can claim back upto £30 off the post office. You won't get your postage back. Its the only company I know if they don't do what we pay them to do, tough! You can do this online. It gives you the info there. I think it is 2 weeks. As you can tell it happened to me. I would recommend signed for as well next time as not everyone is as honest as us ie. they could say they did'nt get stuff when they did.
I'm not usually the gambling type, but yes Helena sometimes you have to stick your neck out. It will be interesting to see if I'm saying the same thing next week. Like I said if if it does not work I won't do it again. Saying that, each auction is like a law unto itself. You can't ever really second guess it.
 Me Sunday evening next week!
My other bear did not sell, so I will try it. I don't know about the reserve as it can put people off. What the heck it will give us a laugh if nothing else when it goes for peanuts! Poor Richey is going to be my trial bear, there is a good chance it will backfire but at least I've tried it. I'll put a link in the sales section and we can all see what happens. Hee hee I'm quite looking forward to it in a kind of daft way.
Ok my husband has had the bright idea of starting my Koala bear off at a very low start, about a dollar. Hmm....I have never done this and so might give it a go. I have always gone for the least I'm prepared to receive. I think maybe artists with a following can get away with this but me? Still at the worst someone gets Richey for less than I want, but he stills sells. I will put him on in a few hours, but if you have any thoughts on the matter I would be interested. I might chance it as an experiment, we'll see.
Kate thats where I get my stuff from. They usually have one in most towns.
I used to have the same problem until I realised they have to be hot. The GHD ones I think heat upto 200C so My old ones just were'nt hot enough. You can get ones now that have a temperature switch so you could use a high setting at first then a lower one for later tidy ups. Ceramic plates are a must to. Good luck ,my hair is the bane of my life, I'm naughty and cut and colour my own.
Eileen, I used some fabric that I had made some cushions out of for the inside ear. It was beige and white mottled and I just cut where the white bit was. I once made a Koala out of that but I don't have a photo. Penny isn't having him, sorry, I've already started her bear. I'm doing her one with the eyes she likes, so I don't feel too guilty about my selling my Koala. Well hopefully selling as you never know with ebay.
Yes! Bruno had his eyelids painted. As you don't use much paint the effect can be as soft as you want. I wanted a heavier look but its up to you. I don't even need to use the right coloured wool as the paint works so well you can make the felt any colour you like. As to the paints, I've just got a cheap set from the local 'cheap' shop. It really works well. I have'nt got many wool colours as I don't need them to be spot on if I use the oil paint technique. Let us know how you go on.
I love the look you have captured. I can't wait to see some more.
I have just done my first miniature Koala. I will put it on ebay tomorrow. I used Sassys long pile and it was really nice to use. I am really enjoying these minis and love seeing everyones new bears.
It spurs you on. It can be so hit and miss with the minis. Nice one.
Heres a good site

Litchfield is'nt too far from me and I have been many times. Helena has some good ideas.
Hey Penny if I don't like it I would'nt tell you, I'd just stick it on ebay I just need to get some new joints for yours and do the arms. I don't collect bears so yours will be very welcome. I have enjoyed doing yours but I did keep thinking 'what if she prefers it another way?' I do think I have captured a comical element in the bear, not unlike your lovely self. Do you want it for christmas or sooner? I will save mine for Christmas as I don't get presents as such. Don't feel sorry for me I have hard cash which I spend on me!

I think your felted work is very, very good. You really have the knack that not everyone has. Its something a bit different. I can't wait to see more.
I have been thinking along the same line as Helena. Its very hard. I might try a higher price with my next Koala. I start at $49.99 dollars. So far I have got more for my bigger bears but I think I need to keep at it.
I nearly missed this as it had gone onto the page 2. I forget when I'm asleep 2/3 of you are awake and chatting away. I thought I'd post a reply so it goes on page 1 just in case it happens to someone else.
Thanks Shelli for finishing Mandie's project.
I'm the same as Deb. Go for the ebay.com site and list in artist OOAKand other as well so it goes to the UK and Australia also. It was mentioned in another post, email me if you want to know more. Shantell is right about pricing very hard but its all a learning curve.
Yep I've said it before, a great way of doing things. It works great on felting as well. Try it everyone!
