Since Judi recommended these markers in her felting class I just ordered 35 of them off ebay. Please tell me that this was a good deal!!

http://cgi.ebay.ca/35-Prismacolor-Doubl … dZViewItem

I already had a few and a dozen Copic markers and I remember paying $5/ea for the Prisma markers I have and now they aren't available in our city anymore!

Thanks,
Marion

Rita - please run, don't walk, to either a lawyer or Legal Aid for advice. You have more rights than you think. As Kim says, don't sign anything your husband presents you with until you have legal advice. I've worked for close to 20 years in a law firm in Canada and unfortunately am no longer surprised by these circumstances but I can emphasize with your pain. You may want to see your doctor as well to see if you need help.

I've ordered several times from Sassy. Her Sassy Long Pile is really nice for minis. The nice thing about ordering from her is that she includes a sample piece of another fabric with her orders. If you make minis the sample piece is useful!
I especially like her vintage rayon - very very nice to work with.

I agree with Penny. I like surprises and will sign on the dotted line that I will be content with whoever's bear I'm lucky enough to get. I'm sure that everyone participating will go overboard to impress a fellow bear artist/collector so I'm confident that the quality will be there.

I would prefer to do an original bear as well. I make mini's and also larger bears and am presently taking Judi's face felting course so would probably like to make that kind of bear for a swap, if ok.

Am I too late to get involved in this. I'd love to swap bears, gollies, whatever.

I like Mystic Wing Creations. It's already out there and you could certainly list your other art forms as a link on the same site.
Glad you're doing a web site; maybe I'll get around to one someday...sigh

I mostly make my minis from vintage rayon that I order from Sassy Fabrics
www.sassybearsandfabrics.com. You don't have to fray check these. I use a small quilting needle and regular sewing thread - very very small backstitch.  You can also get the small disks and cotter pins from Sassy although for the really small bears you can thread joint them.
I use a combination of bamboo skewer and forceps to turn them.
Be very careful - I refused to make minis for years - thought it would be too picky - and then a friend had me try a 3" pattern. It turned out to be instantly addictive. Now whenever I'm bored I quickly cut out a mini for fun.

Have fun,
Marion

I do the nose first. Then bring my thread out at one end of the "smile", go in at the other end of the 'smile', and come out at the bottom middle of the nose. Then I go under the 'smile' thread and draw it straight out tightly and then up to create the smile.  Hope this makes sense.

One of my sisters has a smooth top stove. I was visiting last year and she was saying how much she loved the stove and ran her hand over the top of it. Unfortunately, one of the burners was still hot from use and her hand was burned, h/e not too badly. Got a good snicker out of that one; in fact we still laugh about it!

My Dad was on warfarin for almost a year because of an embolism. For awhile it was daily blood tests then weekly. Fortunately he doesn't need to take it anymore.
I had my gall bladder out 22 years ago. Never knew I had one and then took such a bad attack I ended up in the hospital for 3 weeks. Apparently I was a nice shade of yellow for awhile bear_original Wishes for a speedy recovery.

There was a gas panic in our town yesterday. A rumor started in the morning that gasoline was going to go from 96.5 to $1.80/litre. Line-ups started at every gas station, so much that they extended into the streets and police had to come to several places to direct traffic. This in a small city of 20,000! The prices never did go up although in a few places in Ontario independent operators hiked prices for awhile. It's amazing what a rumour can do.

I'm fairly sure the bugs were not in the mohair but had bred in the plastic bag that I used to bring the fur to my friends. I've never before noticed bugs in my mohair but I do think that I'll put a piece of cedar into my mohair stash to discourage them.

good news is so much nicer to hear and unfortunately so rare.

good wishes going your way.  All this bad weather must be the snake in the paradise that you live in most of the time.
Good luck with you new dog - I'm sure he's be thrilled to get out of the shelter and into a stable loving home.

would you at least share him?

"It's in order to keep the bugs away while in storage and container ships.
You'll wash now won't you"

aaack. yuck. ptooey.

I brought a couple of pieces to a friends this w/e to show her. I just recd them in the mail from Germany. After I put them back in the bag we found several maggots on her table. WE shook out everything else on the table, including the new towels she had just brought. I finally figured they must have been in the shopping bag I'd put the mohair in cause I'd stored the bags (empty) for awhile. We do have more flies than most people cause we keep some pigs, etc. I thoroughly shook out all the mohair when I got home and didn't find anymore but yuck - to think it cd be in my mohair!
I have all my mohair in a sealed container - maybe I'll spray it and close it up to kill anything that cd be in there.
yuck yuck yuck.

I was making a Bramblebear pattern recently and she advised to wash the mohair first in warm water (no soap) and hang to dry. There would be some shrinkage but it would stuff better. I did not do this but am curious about it. Has anyone tried this? I imagine it would make the mohair more flexible?
Just curious,

Heather, I know you can do it!!!
For me the worse thing is the smell of smokers. You met my daughter Megan. The smell is always on her and it's not pleasant. You will eventually regain your sense of smell and hopefully join the group of ex-smokers who are so obnoxious to smokers about quitting!

Just when my stomach was starting to feel better! Thanks for that mental pic - I'll never eat one of those again too. Unfortunately they are my Dad's favourite so I have to buy them for him each week but his eyesight is almost gone so he'd never see anything like that.
