I can't wait to see him with wings. He's quite handsome now, but he'll be devilishly handsome when he's complete!

Sandi.S.

Your friend is gonna adore her! She's so sweet and that hat to top it off, too cute!

Sandi.S.

I think your bears are fantastic! Wonderful work, Magda. It's also nice to learn something of another culture, which I would never know otherwise.

Sandi.S.

Of course your Aunt will love this bear! How could she not?! Your little ones are so cute and sweet. I really love the bear in your avatar!

Sandi.S.

Oh, Jenny, they are all just gorgeous. My fave is the cream white one. What a beauty she is. I really must have one of your bears someday. I just love them!

Best of luck at the show, and please take some piccies for us!

Sandi.S.

Wow, Linda, your Shelties are awesome. My mom has a Sheltie, but he's an old bugger now so he doesn't quite look like your stunning creations! I do have a Collie, which of course are different than Shelties, but they sure do have quite a resemblence. I keep looking at those pics, really incredible! bear_thumb

Sandi.S.

Estelle, your table looks great. Well, of course it would with all those fantastic bears! Sounds like a really nice idea for promoting you town and free is always good! Looks like you had a good time (eh hem...a really good time bear_laugh ), thanks for sharing pics.

Sandi.S.

Big congrats to you and your husband! Looks and sounds like you had a marvelous time in Vegas and on your honeymoon. Have you recovered yet? I'd probably still be tired! Thanks for sharing your wonderful pics with us.

I've never tried to make a cat, but this rotten one sitting on my lap is driving me crazy! She won't sit still, she's contsantly kneading me with her paws, which doesn't feel very good at all since those sharp claws are sticking out.

I'll have to agree that it's definitely not your fault, blame the cat. And when that cat is good and ready, it'll all come together for you, Penny. bear_original

Sandi.S.

Awww, what cute pics! He's a beautiful cat, course I may be biased since he looks like a younger version of my kitty! bear_laugh

I, too, often wonder what our pets our dreaming about.

Sandi.S.

Oh, Marie, I am so sorry for your loss. My heart aches to think of your pain. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Please remember that we're here for you, Marie, if you need anything.

We have a Himalayan and last year she got some really bad mattes in her fur. I'm not sure why, she's never had trouble before. Anyway, we decided to just shave her entirely (except for face and tail) because it really seemed the best solution. Her fur grew back much darker than it was before it was cut.

I read somewhere that the best way to remember your dreams is to stay perfectly still upon waking - don't even twitch a muscle. Then focus on whatever you DO remember and try to drag the rest of it back into focus. The reason for not moving is something to do with 'gross motor function' - your brain starts to concentrate on your body rather that your memories as soon as you move (apparently!).

Oh, I definitely believe that! If I lie in bed for a while, the dream seems very fresh and vivid. But once I hop outta bed and get moving, my recollection of the dream starts fading.

Sandi.S.

Wow, that is very interesting! I almost always remember my dreams when I first wake up, but then I usually forget them shortly after. They don't usually hang around in my brain for too long.

Now that I'm pregnant I usually wake up once through the night to use the bathroom. Now if it's a very short break like that I can pick up my dream where it left off. But I've never revisited a dream after a whole day of being awake. Cool!

I did have a recurring nightmare when I was younger but I haven't had it in years now, thankfully.

Dying with Kool-Aid is so fun and smells so good too! I have never dyed mohair with Kool-Aid though. I use Kool-Aid for dying yarns like angora and cashmere. Here's a link that has directions for using Kool-Aid on yarn, but it also includes a color chart of the dyed yarns. http://www.knitty.com/issuefall02/FEATdyedwool.html
I'm sure you would get very similar results with your mohair. If a certain color is brighter or darker than what you're looking for, just use a lesser amount of Kool-Aid. As for synthetics, my guess would be that it doesn't work. My understanding is that it will only work on protein fibers, those found in animal hair. It would work on your hair too! bear_laugh Once on David Letterman, there was a woman who put Kool-Aid in a spray bottle and sprayed her dog's white fur. Needless to say, he was very colorful! Have fun experimenting! bear_original

Gemma, I think your bear is adorable!

Sandi.S.

Melissa, congrats to you! It sounds like a wonderful opportunity. I think if you could have just a couple extra bears to take along, it would be sufficient. After all, it's not a bear show so I don't think you're expected to have a big table full. And I'm sure they can understand it's the best you can do on short notice. You could always take along a photo album or scrapbook of adopted bears so there's more for the people to see and of course, more exposure for you! I'd say go for it, Melissa, especially since there's been such a buzz about you and your bears. Maybe you can pull in a few new collectors who wouldn't otherwise ever understand what bear artistry is all about. Best of luck! Be sure to give us an update on how it turns out if you decide on doing it. bear_original

Bonnie, what a precious little guy. I'm so happy he found you and is getting healthy. My sister rescued a kitten maybe a month and a half ago. Poor little thing was left behind. Mama took the other kittens and never came back for her.  bear_cry But luckily my sis found her and she is doing great now. She was solid black at first, but her fur has changed too. She's going to be long-haired so she is pretty furry now. Anyway, if you part her fur you can see the color change. It's a nice light grey color at the base and black on the tips...very cool!

Sandi.S.

Thanks, ladies. Maybe I'll have a go at the thread first and see how it turns out, and in the meantime I'll order that ultrasuede for next time.  bear_thumb

Sandi.S.

I have tons of ultrasuede but it is kinda thick. I don't think it will work on minis. Boo hoo, I guess I'll have to order something and be patient.  bear_original Or maybe I'll get lucky and find something suitable while I'm shopping today.

Sandi.S.

Wonderful news! I can't think of anyone who deserves it more!

Sandi.S.

Geez, that wasn't very nice at all. Very strange indeed. I hope it's nothing in the water though, eek, Des Plaines was my place of residence for a year. bear_cry Hopefully my stay was brief enough! Although, if I still lived there I could go to Schaumburg this weekend. bear_laugh

Sandi.S.

Daphne, I hope you have a wonderful time on your getaway. Sounds like you really need it! I'm sorry to hear of all the illnesses in your family. I'll keep them all in my prayers. And my fingers crossed for your hubby. I hope everything works out just the way you would like it to. So, anyway, I wish you a safe and fun-filled trip. I'm bummed I can't get there especially as close as I am. Oh, well, there's always next year. bear_original

Sandi.S.

Sorry no captions here, but your kitties are gorgeous! I love Walker's colors, very handsome. bear_original

Sandi.S.

Hello gals, I was just wondering what I might use for eye whites on minis of about 3". Obviously I wouldn't want any materials that are too thick since it's a mini. I'm working on a bear and think I would like to try adding the whites, but I've never done it before. I'm hoping to find something locally so I don't have to order online. I hate waiting for something when I'm ready to use it now.  bear_grin  So what do you use? Any good tips are appreciated. bear_original

Sandi.S.

Thank you for sharing your pics with us, Celena. I think they are really beautiful. Sounds like you had a wonderful time on your holiday.

Sorry to hear of your sister's illness, but equally glad to hear she's doing okay.
