Welcome back Jane. I will still keep you in my prayers. Remember that God has it all under control, and with Him all things are possible.
He is wonderful! He looks so sqeezable. By the way, I understand being "big boned". I am in the process of trying to get rid of some of my "big boned" features. Diet rule #1 - If it tastes good, don't eat it. There goes the chocolate chip cookies.
Sue Ann,
You're in my prayers. I am definitely keeping watch on this thing, my husband's family is in Houston. The news this morning is not encouraging. I cannot imagine Houston being evacuated.
These families are in my prayers.
Rita,
Your bear is very nice. If you want a more traditional color, take your mohair to a tea party. Brew yourself a cup of tea and make extra to dye the mohair. It makes a really nice "antique" look. Remember, mohair bears like their tea strong (no sugar or cream please).
Here's my bear for charity "Wheatley". I don't think I have already posted his picture, but this past week has been crazy around here. Please forgive me if I have duplicated post.
If we listen to or read the news, we begin to think that this whole world is full of cruelty and hatefulness. It really is not. We have to stop sometimes and give center stage to some of the good things in life. All of the attention need not go to the bad.
I don't see why a waxed nose would be a problem. Don't quote me on this because I haven't done them for a child, but I don't think it would be harmful. Maybe a bit nasty if they chew on them.
I have made child safe bears (for newborns) and I did not stuff them with pellets. However, I believe they can be used if they are secured inside of another pouch. I think that besides the swallowing of small parts, there is also the liability issue. If your bear is being donated, you don't know who will get it. I don't think that I will use pellets for this one. I realize that most of us adults like a heavier bear, but a small child probably likes something they can cuddle with. As a matter of fact, I made a bear for a friend's grandson one Christmas. Last year I seen this boy and he told me that the bear I made was his best cuddling bear.
Kim,
I think you hit the nail on the head. I am attached to "Rupert". I don't quite know why, but I just love this bear. He's sitting here looking at me right now. Maybe I won't sell him. Decisions, decisions.
I have a bear that I am thinking of entering in one of the end of the year contests (Golden Teddy etc.). If I sell this bear can I still enter him?
My sister quit smoking two years ago, after smoking for over 20 years. One thing she said is that she didn't realize until she quit how much money she was spending on cigarettes. So just think of all of the bear supplies that you can buy with the money you were spending on cigarettes.
I think you are talking about the pictures. If so, those will not stay the way they are. I was just experimenting. I am hoping to get my site up and going on Monday since I have that day off. I really don't know what I'm doing, I'm just faking it. I am going through Register.com. They seem to be very good about helping those of us who need it the most.
Definitely a scam. I received a similar email and reported it to ebay. Sometimes this is a way for them to get your account information. Then they will really let you have it. I would not even respond to the email, just report it.
I have been really pleased with my HP Photosmart M417. It has 5.2 megapixels. Cost was $199.00.
Actually, I am trying to replace the framed picture with a picture of one of my bears. Since I am not too computer literate, it may take a few tries.
Thanks all for your opinions. I appreciate it much.
Sue Ann,
What a beautiful big guy! My daughter seen this tipped mohair and really liked it. She talked about making a bear, but at the present she has something else (or someone else) on her mind. I guess the bear takes the back seat.
Ah, the Latin stumped you all. Actually, the latin is there until I fill it in with my own doings. Don't ask me why.
I am in the process of redoing my website. I will have much more space available. I would appreciate your opinions. If you go to my site, you will see my home page (still under construction) and I think you can get the idea where I'm heading with this. Since I am into the antique style bear, I thought I would keep my design along those lines. I am not too far along though to make changes if needed. I hope this all makes sense. Thanks.
I will keep your daughter in my prayers. Be assured that God has everything under control.
Hi Catherine,
I have had a blast playing in the dye. This bear is dyed with fabric dye for the brown and the orange is a combination of jewel weed flowers and stems and peach kool aid. I am now working on a bear that is dyed with poke berries. I think I am having too much fun.
How sweet of her to send you a picture. I have two bears going to two little girls in Peru. I am supposed to get pictures of the girls with their bears. I can't wait.
Beautiful bear! He is definitely a hugger.
Here's my other Halloween bear (unnamed as yet). He is 10" tall and also comes with a dried gourd painted with a farm scene. This guy has antique shoe button eyes and is dyed with a combination of plant, kool aid and fabric dye.
Very nice bear. You have reminded me that I need to get my pictures in. The bear has been finished for weeks but I have been so busy that I forgot to post the pictures.
