kerrenmorris

Hi I am back,
all my building work is done finally!

I will post pictures later its drizzling here and so cold, so I don't want to venture out with a camera.

I have attended a couple of fairs, a local one and the Hugglets fair, I had a few of my bears adopted at both fairs so that was good.
I have a local fair next Saturday I am working on a few new bears for that.

I want to get out in the garden and do some gardening, the weather has been really bad, we even had some snow.

I have been making curtains trying to make the house more homely.

I hope you are all keeping well, I have been in a few times to read messages and see the amount of new people who have recently joined.

I still haven’t worked out how to put my pin on the map or put a union jack next to my aviator! if anyone wants to let me know how to do it I would be grateful!
bye for now Hugs Kerren

Kerren’s version
PECAN PIE
Ingredients
For the sweet pastry:
225g/8oz plain flour
110g/4oz caster sugar    ( I bought ready made pastry    )
110g/4oz butter
4 egg yolks

For the pecan filling:
3 eggs
110g/4oz sugar
4 tablespoons golden syrup
50g/3oz butter, melted
a pinch of salt
a few drops vanilla extract
210g/ pecan halves
Method
1. Make the pastry by putting all the ingredients into a food processor and whizzing until you get a dough.
2. Remove and place in a plastic bag and put into the fridge for 1 hour.
3. Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6. Line a 9in/23cm-pie tin with the pastry.
4.Put sugar, butter and golden syrup in a heavy-bottomed pan and melt all ingredients, stir well then leave to cool,
5. Break the eggs in a mixing bowl. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
Put the pecan nuts in the pastry case.
6. Pour the mixture into the pastry case and bake for 10 minutes and then reduce the oven heat to 180C/350F/Gas 4 and bake for another 30 minutes or until the top of the pie is golden. Check if it s cooked through by inserting a knife, it comes out clean if it's done.
7. Turn out of the tin when slightly cooled and serve warm or cold.

primrosehead.jpgI normally appliqué the eye patches on to the finished head trimming very closely at the edge of the tear shaped mohair patch and sew with very tiny stichs. I think if i were to cut a hole and sew it on first it may put the fabric under pressure and tear, as i fill the head very firmly.

Tcho Kiang has arrived and he is beautiful. Many many thanks, even my husband who is not so keen on my wee ones has admired him. I am really thrilled.

hi Jane,
i saw it on Calender news last night how silly!
they made out it was just the Prem babies, but they are in special care units any way.

Catherine, I have been on holiday to the lake district  regularly, in fact we spent our honey moon there.
There used to be a couple of bear shops in Bowness on Winsermere on Quarry Brow its on the main street, on the left side going up it sells bears dolls and collectables no artist bears anymore. I once asked if he was willing to stock my bears and he said he wanted them at 50% so i walked!
The one on the other side has now gone unfortunately. they sold lots of artist bears they had a huge HM Bear once
I have been to a shop in Penrith they are mostly mass produced bears too.
i am sad to say over half of the bear shops i used to visit have gone. bear_sad

I hope your mum is ok Shelli!

i use lock nut and bolts for most of my bears and only use the tiny cotter pins for very small bears, i cannot turn the metal and get frustrated with it.
