I think it's a great bear, the picture is a little dark, but I don't see any problems.
You should do just fine,
Heather
Yeah it has been reported to ebay.
It is sooo illegal, yes. Not only does she not have the product she is selling, but she stole pictures from the artists site. She even had the nerve to email the artist and ask about the size of the doll, just so she could put it on her auction. Looks like she is also selling more dolls. I wonder if she has any of them.
I just hope it doesn't start happening to bear makers.
Heather
As long as you don't pay her thousands..................
I took my dog to California, And I've got pics of him all over there. Very cute I think.
heather
I also sold a small felted bear that was to be a baby gift.
I guess the parents wanted to start a teddy collection, so I don't think the bear will be played with ( hope not ).But there were VERY happy to find such a unique bear.
As long as we warn them, no much else we can do.
Heather
I'll help too, but sounds like everyone is willing.
Maion, nice crochet bear!!
And REALLY nice aviator bear. Wonder where that bear lives.........................??????????
Heather
Hey guys.
If you're adding a bi of "extra fluff" make sure you DON'T put it on straight. So, take that little bit of fluff that you want to add, and mush it around with your fingers to make sure none of the fibers are straight. I find this really helps with blending. Then I will also take the tip of my felting needle and try and wrap any loose fibres that haven't felted in yet. Then with all the loose fibers on the tip of the needle, I felt that right into my project. Helps control the fuzzies without cutting them off.
Hope this helps,
Heather
I was just going to say what Marion did.
I do that with alot of my felties, and it really does help with the smoothness.
As for real we felting, haven't tried it yet.
Heather
What a nice guy??
Advice way over my head, but do try and talk about that stuff with your doctor.
I feel soo bad for you. How do you live in pain AND work!!!!!!!!! Y ou poor thing.
I can't say anything to help you, just give you big hugs!!
Heather
Well, everyone has some great tips, and not too much that I can add.
I never really had any issues with noses, they just seem to come naturally. Lucky I guess.
But one trick i use it that I always draw out my nose shape on paper, cut it out once I'm happy with it and trace it on the bear. This way you can even pin the paper nose on before you trace it, just to make sure it's even.
Then I stitch just outside the pen line ( to hide it of course ) and no matter what shape the nose may be, you can be confidant that you are stitching an even nose, and that the shape is good.
Heather
Hey guys,
just chattin' on my dollmakers board and thought I'd share what we've been talking about.
Seems there is a new 'thing' going on at Ebay, and I thought it was important as alot of you sell off your websites.
A dollmaker friend, noticed there was an auction for a doll that she has for sale on her website, NOT ebay. So she contacted the seller and got this response.
"yes it is allowed to sell things that you dont own, in the US they do
nothing else, it is called shopdropping, that way you dont have to
invest anything.I do not want to offend you, people usulay do not mond how
their pieces are sold, its the endresult isnt it."
can you imagine?? So now we're wondering how often this happens to people.
That is soo wrong, how does this ebay lady even know that she will sell the Doll to her? She has no right to try and sell it, and the buy it now price is $1700. Good thing there are no bids.
Just wanted to give you guys a heads up,
Heather
Daphine, have to say I love your new aviator!!
As for artist bear, I dont know what the official definition is, or who even wrote the definition of an artist bear.
But I cant imagine they would have to be out of mohair. What about real fur, so Shari here makes some pretty artistic bears out of some nice faux fur. I think those are artists bears.
Or what about other animals?? ( cat, girraffe etc ) some of those aren't jointed but are still 'artist'.
So, I think that as long as you make the pattern, make the nose etc. It IS an artist bear vs.a manufactured bear.
Heather
Dilu, we do!!
I personally like suprises, but as soon as my boyfriend gets my gift, whatever occation, he MUST give it to me right away. Makes me crazy, but it just wouldn't be xmas without his nagging.
What did you get your hubby anyway?
Heather
Here in Canada, we have Mars bars.
I thought milky way was a totally different thing??
As for the chocolate, I love the stuff, but even as a pastry chef, I never learned to like the 'good' stuff. Guess it's milk chocolate for me!
Heather
Thanks guys, THat really does help.
I'm going to try that on my bear tonight. I'll let you know how iw works out.
Heather
i would poke a hole in the Fimo before baking, then you can sew it on. You might also need to glue on the fur afterwards.
That's how I would do it anyway,
Heather
it was me who asked about lock washers. Just wonding if those would work for jointing.
Still a little confused, and I haven't tried this jointing method yet, but I sure do want to.
Heather
Karen, I LOVE THAT BEAR!!
great job! Can't wait to see more, and I like the shading and the shaping.
matilda, what a cool bear!
Heather
You girls are funny!
Somehow I missed all fun with Harry potter. I just don't like it. I think I'm the only one though.
As for being bored, at the risk of sounding freaky, I love 'bored' time. I'm a big thinker, and sit just sitting back with some music for a bit, thinking is very therapeutic. I also meditate alot. Amazing the crazy out-of-body feelings you can get. I also play with tarot cards, and I read a whole lot.
Oh, and sometime I get into a cleaning rage. COme girls, we all have them.
-something makes you mad, a dirty sock on the floor, dishes in the sink etc. You get all mad, start thinking about how mad you are as you clean. You finish cleaning the one thing that p$#sed you off, but you are still mad, so you find something else that is dirty, get mad, start cleaning and so on, and on and on........... Next thing you know, your house is cleaner than it has been is months, and you feel great!!!
Please tell me I'm not the only one..............
Heather
This is soo cool!!
I've been a veggie since I was about 12 or so. Even before then, I was just plain grossed out by the stuff.
I honestly don't think it's wrong to eat meat, other animals that eat meat aren't wrong. So the whole idea of an animal dying for food isn't soo bizarre, it's very natural. But, that being said, I just can't eat the stuff. My soul tells me not to.
I like Kim, also cook all the meals in the house, but only 3 a week contain meat. Not sure how to handle it if I have kids though.
Kim ( wildthyme) we should brain storm together about meals that work for us and our meat eating family.
Shelli, my boyfriend and I do play that game!!! And you're right, it is a great way to learn about them. I've learned one thing, when he's looking at me all lovingly, most of the time, he's thinking about his video games!!!
Nettie, you used to be a power lifter? Very cool. I don't think I've heard of anyone being a veggie and doing that. It's so nice to hear. All my guy friends figure to be strong, you need to eat gross amounts of meat. Boys.
I do think we should share cooking ideas though. It does take some creativity to cook vegetarian on a daily basis.
Heather
Thanks Jared,
good to know about the adjustments.
I hate make such a large bear and mess it up. NOt good!!!
Heather
Wow, huge bear!! LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to make one that bignow. Good thing to do with all my fake fur.
My largest bear is 14". not big at all to most of you guys.
She's the panda that I have in show and tell.
If I were to enlarge a pattern to be really huge, do I need to make any adjustments?? And how big is your seam alllowance??
Heather
Thanks for the info Judi.I was just wondering. I imagined airbrushing would take days, so good to know. Of course, it's just because you are so practiced though. What great work! Saying it took longer to felt the toes, really helped me picture it.
Funny, the lamb was just a prop. Must be nice to make such nice props Judi!!
Heather
I also now have to get some. I'm lucky though, because my friend is an auto mechanic and he can get me some to try out for FREE!!!!!!!!
Shantell, I'm just like you, have to have at least 1 of everything, just in case.
Daphine, or anyone else that would know, can I use lock washers as well?? My mechanic friend told me about them and I was just wondering if they would work the same.
