Daphne- I hope you get some good medical news soon. Take care and know we are thinking of you!
Suzanne
Nancy- I'll keep you in my prayers- Hope everything is OK.

Sue Ann - I'm so glad you had a good time on your trip! I'm biased because I live so close, but I love Philly! Of course the fact that my daughter's University is there has a lot to do with it too! It's funny, but I love driving in Philly but hate it in other cities. The streets ARE narrow though!

When I first saw this post yesterday, it didn't really grab me because my married name is Mrs. Robinson and I kind of enjoy being serenaded by all sorts of people! BUT... Today I went to renew my driver's license. This is the first time since the "rules" have been changed because of 9/11. I had more than my 6 points worth of documents( you Jersey girls will understand) and one of them was my N.J. State Dept. of Health Marriage License. Not good enough for them... it has to be on official state safety paper with a raised seal. If I had kept my maiden name, I would have my license now; instead I have to spend 3 hours in the car to go get "official" papers and then go wait in line AGAIN at Motor Vehicles. ARRGH!

What a nice thread! I have lots of good news. I love my job, my husband's job is starting to look a lot more promising and interesting to him, my kids have just had all their checkups and have healthy bodies, eyes, and teeth. We get to see my brother and his family this weekend who are visiting from Oregon! I know I am a fortunate person because I could keep writing all night....
Suzanne
Shelli- I'm so glad you said lattes! Magazine and newspaper columns always recommend giving those up to save money, but we baristas have to make a living too! I love my regulars and try to have their drink started when I see them walking up to the shop- I figure I'm like a non-alcoholic bartender.
My big luxury is a facial every once in a while- I find them more relaxing than anything else I can buy.
Suzanne
Daphne- you're in my thoughts and prayers. I hope everything goes well.

Daphne--- When I was in college and used to go out clubbing with a friend, we wanted to use different, more exotic names than our own names, but still wanted them to be believable,real names. She became "Penny" and I was "Daphne" . We picked them from Saturday cartoons- the Daphne is obvious, but Penny was from Penelope Pitstop- Wacky Racers was the show I think- It is great to finally "know" both a Penny and a Daphne in real life, especially since we had such a good time being you two!
Suzanne
Thanks Yvette- That was what I needed.

Help! Can someone describe how to fold a newspaper hat? The kids at work want to know how and I think I've seen bears wearing them, hopefully made by someone on TT... Thanks!
Suzanne
Jane, I am sorry you've had so much bad news. :hug:
Suzanne
Thank You all for your kind words. The ladies running the auction seem pleased with her; the big question is will there be bidders because there is no guarantee that any teddy bear lovers are doing the relay!
Tracy- I am looking forward to July as well- ideas are floating around in my head- I hope to transfer them to mohair soon!
Suzanne
I haven't posted in so long.. but I have made several bears! This bear is a donation for an auction which will benefit Relay for Life. The crew that is running the auction does it as a silent auction during the actual relay- people put down bids on their laps around the track. I was a participant last year and it was great! This year I'll be working - our company is the coffee supplier! "Miss Kim" is lavender because purple is the signature color for Relay for Life. I had hoped to donate a pink bear as well but just didn't have enough time. I hope she gets some bids!

The bunny looks great Congratulations! I don't know about anyone else, but I enjoy the second-hand thrills I get reading about TTer's accomplishments!
Suzanne
Bim is wonderful SueAnn... His name makes me remember my honeymoon. We went to Barbados and there were a lot of radio announcements for Bim- "Drink Bim Cola"etc. I have an empty Bim bottle as a souvenir!

Thank you all so much. I work with a lot of teenagers and this has been a tough year for our high school. Two students died in separate car accidents last fall, one was a junior and one was a senior, and now this tragedy. One of the young ladies I work with has gone from being the most bubbly, outgoing persons to being rather quiet and introspective. My daughter, while upset, is shielded a bit by being at school and very busy with her assignments(they were not at the same college.) I find it hard to express how awful I feel about this poor boy, but it helps so much to read your kind words.

Hi- I feel a little funny asking for this since I am mostly a lurker, but I just feel so badly. A boy my daughter graduated with last year has been missing for a month and it seems that his body has just been found in a landfill. While everyone had sort of been expecting the worst, it's still hard to know that there's no hope left, and I just feel so sorry for his family. He was an art major, too just like my daughter, and she said he was really a nice guy. I don't know what else to say.... Suzanne
Hi Jennie- I use a flexible ruler to draw head gussets. I used to use this hard to describe method of "rocking" the side head pattern along a piece of folded paper, but then I saw a suggestion from Sue Ann to use a flexible ruler and I've done that ever since. It's pretty easy to alter the shape using the ruler, too.

Hi Penny- Reporting in for duty, as requested! My son was confirmed at church this morning and we had a houseful of people for lunch. It was such a nice day! And soon I'll be off to relax in the hot tub with a nice glass of wine and then to pick at the leftovers for dinner. Life is good! :dance:

Carter is wonderful... and the color is great!. It's neat to see some string mohair dyed; I thought it would "fluff out" more. I don't know why I thought that!
Suzanne
I might have this wrong, but I think
Monday= washing
Tuesday= mending
Wednesday= ironing
Thursday= market
Friday= cleaning
Saturday= baking
Sunday= REST!
This is just my memory from my Nana's tea towels!
Suzanne
He makes me think of Captain Holly from "Watership Down". I love him!
Suzanne
Dilu- I'm adding my prayers for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. A friend at my church just had both knees replaced ( not sure what you are having done exactly :redface: ) and she is doing really well and is so glad she had the surgery. Hope you feel the same way!
Suzanne
Daphne, I hope your father gets well soon. Don't forget to take care of yourself, too-
Suzanne
Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby!
