Thank you so much for the brilliant tutorial.
Something else I have to master
Thank You all so much for taking the time to post.
You cheered me up no end.
Thanks again....................
So sorry I haven't been around - ya all didn't notice did ya
Anyway I'm on crutches!!!!!!!!DON'T ASK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Roll on 2008 - 2007 is proving to be a bummer. What with slicing off my finger and now this - I must have a death wish...........(Note to self - don't start reading War & Peace)..........
Anyway - popped into Teddy's and Friends - beautiful work everyone. Your all just getting better and better.
Need to go and lay down - with my luck at the moment this computer will self destruct in five, four thrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr*******************************************
I'm very envious of all of your workrooms. Paula - do you rent Stuart out as a specialist workroom doerupper?
I don't have a specialist room at all - everything has to be got out and put away each time - very frustrating. If you just have half an hour - by the time you've set up and allowed time to pack up - the time left isn't enough to do anything. That's probably why I'm the slowest bearmaker in the world.
Sorry I've been AWOL - Life gets in the way.
This is a BRILLIANT BUNNY...............
What size is he please? Can he escape Mr McGregor?
Thank You so much Jane for the pics - really appreciated.
Congratulations everybody...................
He's beautiful Paula - heaven knows how you make them so fast................
'Jacob' is a massive 26" in height, a real statement bear! He is made from Intercal's gorgeous antique stone with dark backing alpaca. At least he'll take up quite a bit of room on my table at the show ... perhaps that will hide the fact that I don't have many bears to sell!
My Gran always used to say - Its quality not quantity.. and you surely will be displaying quality............
These are really beautiful Yvonne - I truly wish some of them could find their way to me...........

How exiting is that.................
Are you still taking it to bed at night - like the little boy with the new wellington boots.....
Seriously ....................BRILLIANT
Also, in Heather's pictures you see the field for opacity at 100%, which means the active layer is non-transparent. Reduce the value and you will be able to see through the top layer. That way you can see what you are doing and add things to the picture without altering the original pic. Once you are satisfied go to the layer menu and choose flatten image. Experiment and remember you can always undo everything by backstepping in the history window. Increase the number of steps in the history to maybe 200 (in preferences) if you are like me, making a lot of small changes with quick mouse clicks.
Thank you - I don't know where the opacity thing was. Maybe that's what I'm missing - I'll give it a go.
Thank you all for your patience and help.
,
I'm not sure I understand your problem. First, do you mean Photoshop 4, which would be ancient (its at 8 or 9 now I think) or PS Elements 4, which would be new?
It is PS Elements 4
If you have different pics and want to combine them you can copy and paste one onto the other. If you work on different layers on the same pic, say a bear on the background, text on another layer (actually, each text bit would have its own layer), another bear on the third etc., then you can combine/merge/amalgamate them all into one with the "flatten image" menu command or merge several layers with the merge down command.
This is exactly what I'm trying to do. but I'm not seeing each layer as it overlays. Whatever image I'm working on to crop, resize, or compose text, this 'active' layer obliterates all the others below until I delete the layer and then the others are revealed. How do you overlay them together?
If you only see the contents of one layer at a time they are either overlaying each other (e.g. bear on top of bear) or there is a dark background that needs to be transparent. You can set the transparency of a layer on the layer window. I would take images of my screen if I new hat you need.
This is it exactly - this is the bit I'm not getting...........................
Heather - Thanks for the screen shots - I get that bit about creating new layers each time but I can't seem to manipulate the images over each other. I can't compose a composite image before I 'flatten it' or whatever you do.
Thanks for the help everyone - I'm sorry to be so stupid.
Why can't I layer with Photoshop 4? I've read a number of books and different on-line articles but no I can't seem to do it.
I can re-size, crop and add text. I can get various images on the edit whatsit. I click the active layer and do whatever but then when I change layers it does just that - it changes. I want to amalgamate images to create a composite. I've even tried doing Shelli's digital challenge but zippo.....................
Will some kind soul have pity on me and try to explain in words of one syllable what I'm not doing!
If I can't crack this soon - I'm in danger of killing my computer and its bits...........................

This is a beautiful piece of work. I've been staring at her for some time - I couldn't believe what I was looking at.
Surely a competition entry?????????????
What a handsome gentleman is this -
I just love a chap with style.........................
This coming Friday I will be doing my filmed interview with Kirste McCool (TBCI) and I will be promoting the internet channel on my website.
Gracious - Can I have your autograph
Sorry - my lickel joke - I bet thats brilliant - let us know how you get on.
Chrissi this artwork is beautiful.
I'm always very envious of this type of talent - drawing a straight line with a ruler challenges me. My Grandfather was a brilliant artist - watercolour, pencil and ink - I used to sit beside him for hours and watch. Thanks for the memory......................
WOW - am I glad I'm not alone in not understanding ANY of that - I was feeling soooooo stupid.   sorry - 'computer challenged'!!!!!!!!!!!
Whatever you do - keep the tea/coffee pots safe .............................
Good luck to you - how exiting.......................
I envy you your workroom...............................
Here's a housewarming gift for you

If I may be so bold... wood!
Wood has my vote too ..........................
A thought provoking book that you can read in a couple of hours is 'The Five People you meet in Heaven' by Mitch Albom.
If you like Legal Thrillers - 'The Emperor of Ocean Park' by Stephen Carter.
Jeffrey Deaver for forensic stuff.
You should never waste the gifts you have........
That's my two pennoth for what its worth
I'm eavesdropping I'm afraid - been dreaming of this too (if I win the lottery)
Jacqui I was fine until you mentioned the word computer ...................
There are some beautiful ones about - I'd be interested to hear the views of others as well (Hope you don't mind Jenny).
My daughter has rheumatoid arthritis and in the past has been in progressive pain - awful to watch - but since being properly diagnosed and taking her medication regularly she can now move freely again and even swim again.
I'm glad it worked - I've had rheumatoid for a very long time but I'm allergic to all pain meds so have no pain control at all. Such is life...........................
I'm afraid I took the easy way - Penny made my avatar
I'm afraid I'm useless. The heart is willing but my brain is somewhere else........
There a lots of very talented computer people on here - someone will jump in I'm sure.
